Join me here at the beach as we meditate.
Sitting on the sand or walking along the water's edge,
Feel the feet grounded in the warm sand.
The grains tickling between your toes.
The air drifting across your skin.
Noticing the sun and the wind against your face.
Opening your senses to everything around you.
The sounds of the waves,
That force of the ocean.
Gulls flying overhead or dipping into the water for a meal.
The smell of the salt in the sand.
Letting go for a moment that concept of the boundaries of your body.
An opening to the sounds,
The sense,
The feel,
The taste of nature around you.
The most fullest expression in the wildness of the winds.
Bringing attention to your mouth,
To your cheeks,
Your forehead.
Attention on your neck and your shoulders,
To your abdomen,
To your arms left and right,
Down through the palms,
A ray of sunshine of attention in your hips,
Down through your left leg to the knee,
The ankle,
The toes,
And to the right leg,
The knee,
Ankle and toes.
Attention along the backside of the body,
Along the front side,
The right side,
And the left.
And with this quick body scan,
Becoming aware of those boundaries,
Those surfaces of the body,
Of the sensations coursing inside your body,
A tickle in the tummy,
Feeling in the head,
An itch inside the leg.
And then letting go of the holding of those body boundaries and opening again to the space around the body.
Sensitizing to the forces of nature around you,
The ocean waves against the sand rolling in and in and out and out,
Much like the breath flowing in through your nostrils and lungs and belly and out through the nostrils.
Perhaps noticing a synchrony between those ocean waves and the breath.
Taking a moment together to feel the breath in synchrony with the waves and the wind.
What's that sound?
Feeling the safety and the comfort in this alignment,
This parallel nature of the breath and nature's forces around you.
Feeling that connection with nature.
And as you move in your time at the beach,
Remembering to ground into this awareness,
This connection to the waves and the wind,
To the shells and the dune grass and all that nature has to offer us at the beach.
Thank you.
