Welcome to this guided meditation.

This meditation to help you find relief from the grief of losing a pet.

Please find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down where you won't be disturbed.

Once you find that place,

Softly,

Gently close your eyes.

And as you softly,

Gently close your eyes,

Allow yourself to arrive.

Allow yourself to settle,

Inviting your mind to the present moment.

Inviting your mind to your body.

Say hey mind,

Come on back to my body.

Come on back to the present moment.

And just notice your breathing.

Notice your breath.

Notice your inhale and your exhale.

Nothing to do or control with your breathing.

Just watch your breath,

Observe your breath,

Be the witness to your breathing.

Now let's start to take a few deep breaths,

Cleansing breaths.

Inhale deeply through your nose,

Filling up your lungs,

And exhale slowly through your mouth.

Feel the tension leaving your body with each exhale.

And as you continue to breathe deeply,

Allow yourself to relax.

Allow yourself to feel heavier and heavier and bring your attention and awareness to the gentle rise and fall of your chest with each breath.

The gentle rise and fall of your inhale and your exhale.

Starting to relax more and more as you breathe as you listen to the sound of my voice.

And in just a moment,

You'll start to think of your pet,

You'll picture their image in your mind and start to remember the moments of joy,

Companionship,

And love that you share.

And as you remember your pet,

Allow any emotions that arise to simply be.

And it's okay to feel sadness,

But also remember the happiness they brought into your life.

Now think of your pet.

Picture their image in your mind.

See what you see,

Feel what you feel,

Using all your emotions.

It's okay to feel all your emotions,

Just allow your emotions to come up.

And see your pet,

Feel your pet right now.

And grief is a natural process to loss.

So embrace the feeling,

Let it wash over you.

And recognize that it's a testament to the love you have for your pet.

So now feel the grief,

But also understand it's a process.

And with time,

It will transform into cherished memories.

So feel the grief right now,

I'll give you time.

Allow all the emotions to come up.

And now notice in your body where you feel the grief,

Where you feel this loss.

Pinpoint exactly where you feel this tension,

Where you feel this loss,

Where you feel this grief.

Locate it,

Pinpoint it.

Some people feel it in their throat,

Or heart space,

Or stomach.

Pinpoint exactly where you feel this grief.

And once you do,

In your mind's eye,

You might see a color coming from this place where you feel this grief,

Or you might see a shape.

Visualize this grief,

It could be a color,

A shape,

A texture.

Some people feel a rock,

Or glue,

Or sludge,

Or heaviness.

Notice this grief,

This color,

This shape,

The texture.

Does it make a sound?

Does it have a smell?

Is it heavy or light?

Notice this grief,

Notice this texture.

And in just a moment,

If there was an opposite element from the center of the universe that could wash this grief away,

What would it be?

In just a moment,

Energy from the center of the universe,

Higher power,

God,

Whatever you want to call it,

Great spirit,

Or the universe,

From the center of the universe,

This energy,

What energy would it be?

Some people feel water,

Or a laser,

Or fire,

Or diamonds.

What element,

What energy from the center of the universe,

If it comes down through your head into your body,

That would wash this grief away?

See it,

Feel it.

Now,

Imagine this energy,

This element,

From the center of the universe,

Raining down,

Falling down into the crown of your head,

Shooting down into the crown of your head and filling up your body,

And washing this grief away.

Washing this feeling away,

Or dissolving it,

Or crumbling it.

Whatever the element is from the center of the universe,

Washes through you,

Washes over you,

Breaks down that grief,

Feeling better and better,

Better and better,

Yes,

And breathe this energy in from the center of the universe,

This feeling,

This power,

As it washes away the grief,

Feeling better and better.

And in just a moment,

You'll start to imagine rain,

And this rain represents forgiveness and healing,

And with each drop,

Imagine forgiveness for any guilt or regret you may be carrying,

And allow this rain to wash away any negative emotions,

Leaving you lighter and more at peace.

Now imagine rain starting to fall,

Falling from the sky,

Representing forgiveness and healing,

And each drop,

Any guilt or regret you may be carrying,

Washes away.

Allow this rain to fall down onto your body,

Leaving you lighter and more at peace.

And now feel the presence of your pet's energy around you.

Imagine their warmth,

Their love,

And their spirit,

They are never truly gone.

As they live on in your heart and in the fond memories you hold,

And take a moment to express gratitude for the time you had together,

Be thankful for the lessons they taught you,

The joy they brought you into your life,

And the love you shared.

Gratitude can be a powerful healer,

So find all the gratitude now,

And as you slowly return to the present moment,

Bring with you a sense of peace,

Acceptance,

And gratitude.

Know that your pet's love will always be a part of you,

And their memory will continue to bring you comfort,

And you can return to this meditation whenever you need to find relief from grief,

And reconnect with the love you shared with your pet.

And when you're ready,

Only when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes,

And carry this newfound peace with you into your day.

Have a great day.

I apologize if this is a repeat but think I accidentally deleted my first rating. Yesterday we had to say the gut-wrenching goodbye to our sweet malinois mix of nearly 14 years, Newton. Today the grief has been physically painful, and even trying to stay busy has not eased that. I turned to Insight Timer for help and found your gentle, soft, comforting and insightful meditation. While it was painful to sit with the waves of grief intentionally, the perspective you gave of its presence of it as a direct reflection of love was helpful and comforting, and the combination of breathwork, imagery, mindfulness, and gratitude practices really did ease the physical sensations of pain and soothe the most intense emotional ones. Thank you for using your gifts and insight to create a meditation targeted at the unique grief of pet loss. It really should be called "First Aid for Acute Pet Grief" for the way it simultaneously pays attention to yet sooths the wounds. Love and peace to all those grieving their precious furry family members .. 🐾❀️

Just what I needed after losing my beloved Petey yesterday. He was my loyal companion. He was a yogi as well. Always on the mat with me. Always by my side. I know he still is. I just can’t see him. Thank you for this perfect meditation Bryan. πŸ™πŸ–€πŸ€

I bawled my eyes out the entire time during this. I had to let my sweet baby Puma cross tbe rainbow bridge this morning. I will come back to this meditation often for the reminder to let go of the guilt and regret and express gratitude for the unconditional love Puma showed me.
