Hello and welcome.
My name is Yaja and today I'll be guiding you through a grounding meditation.
This is really helpful for times in the day that we might find ourselves scattered,
Pulled in many different directions,
Or generally just feeling ourselves in a state of overwhelm.
Today's practice will be a seated one and we want to find a surface that is flat so that while we're seated our fingertips are able to make contact or connection with the ground beneath us.
So sitting on a floor with a rug or a floor on a cushion or even sitting on your bed is perfectly fine.
Sitting in a chair will make this practice a bit more challenging as your fingertips will have a harder time establishing contact with the floor.
So with that being said,
Take a moment to find your seat,
Make yourself comfortable,
Allow gravity to take hold of you.
Feel the gentle fingers of the gravitational pull soften your shoulders down to ease your jaw and find either a comfortable gaze in front of you or allow gravity to gently close your eyes.
Inhale,
Breathe in.
Exhale,
Ground melt into the earth beneath you.
Bring your fingertips to either side of you so that the tips of your fingers connect with the earth.
Inhale,
Breathe in.
Exhale,
Ground down your energy through the tips of your fingers,
Through your spine,
Through your sits bones,
Back into the earth.
And with each subsequent breath,
Don't focus so much on what happens with the inhale.
Allow the inhale to passively come.
Focus on your presence with the exhale.
With each exhale,
The energy in your body will move down through your fingertips,
Down through your spine,
Your tailbone,
Through your sits bones,
Back into the earth.
Let's take a few breaths staying with that visualization,
With that energetic movement.
Inhale together,
Allow the inhale to happen,
Fill,
Expand.
Exhale,
Move your energy down your arms,
Down your fingertips and spine,
Back into the earth,
Grounding,
Anchoring.
Gentle inhale,
Fill up,
Allow your body to expand.
Exhale,
Move the energy down your arms,
Into your fingertips,
Into the earth,
Down your spine.
I am simply here as your guide.
You may feel that what you need is to take shallower breaths,
Longer breaths,
Deeper breaths,
Very slow breaths.
Your body may need something different today than it may have needed yesterday.
So allow yourself to fall into a rhythm and a pace that serves you.
Moving with the passive inhale,
Filling up,
And exhaling,
Grounding down through your fingers into the earth.
Trust yourself to know what you need,
What pace.
Only you know what is best for you in this moment,
On this day.
Anytime you start to wander,
Just come back to the earth,
To your breath.
The earth is an amazing resource.
The ground beneath us can take whatever it is that we may carry that we don't need.
So if you're feeling weighted down,
Or if you feel like you're carrying anything today that is making you feel less connected,
Centered,
That's inhibiting you from showing up in your day the way you wish,
Know that with each exhale,
You can release that into the earth.
The ground will take this burden from you.
Anything that is not serving you,
That is holding you back from showing up the way that you want to,
Let it go.
Let the earth take that from you.
And if that isn't something that you need today,
Continue to move with the visualization,
With the breath.
And if at any point you feel that keeping your fingertips grounded to the earth becomes uncomfortable,
Feel free to bring your hands into your lap.
If you put your palms face down on your knees,
This also will bring grounding energy.
So feel free to take that if you need it.
Let's take a few more rounds of breath here,
Taking this opportunity to release anything else that may linger that we wish to release before we move on with our day.
And anchor ourselves a bit more securely to ground ourselves more firmly.
And if you haven't already,
Go ahead and release your fingertips from the earth.
Place your hands palm down on your knees in your lap and allow your breath to move back to its natural pace,
Its natural rhythm.
Release the visualization.
Let's take a moment to give gratitude to the earth for supporting us and for taking from us that which is not serving us today.
And I invite you to stay here in a moment or many moments of meditation for as long as feels good to you.
I'm proud of you for showing up here today,
For taking a step to change the outcome of your day,
To change the way that you feel and the way that you are showing up for yourself and for others.
I will see you next time.
