Hello and welcome to another session,
I invite you to take a seat or lay down and get yourself comfortable,
You can close down the eyes if you wish and just take a deep slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
As we settle into this session,
I just want you to take a brief moment to scan your body for any points of tension,
Of restriction,
Anywhere in your body that is holding on,
Maybe it's a part of your body that protected you when you were younger,
A place that held on to some of the memories,
Some of the pains,
Some of the challenges of the past,
This part of your body or parts of your body might appear as a visualized form of darkness or coldness or restriction,
So just take another moment and scan your body for any of these places and when you discover them,
I want you to take a slow,
Calm and healing breath into that space,
Visualize healing energy in whatever color that presents itself to you,
Entering that space,
Unlocking that space,
Allowing a bit of movement to flow through it and just turn towards that space in your body and say,
Hey,
I feel you,
I accept you,
It's okay,
You are safe and ask those parts of your body if they have anything to tell you,
If there's anything there that those parts of the body want you to know and invite that part of your body to speak and all the while just continuing to breathe,
Slowly,
Deeply,
In through the nose and out through the mouth,
Just progressing up through our body,
Looking and releasing our feet,
Our legs,
Our groins,
Our bellies,
Our chests,
Our buttocks,
Our lower back,
Our upper backs,
Just inviting these places to release,
Our shoulders,
Our arms,
Our hands,
Our faces,
Our necks,
And our heads,
Just taking another moment to allow our body to be open,
To relax and to just heal,
Take another slow,
Calm breath in through the nose and out through the mouth and just turn your attention towards your mind,
In a moment I'm going to ask you a question,
I'm going to ask it to you twice and we're going to sit with that question in contemplation for a minute,
Then we're going to talk about it and see where the conversation leads us and I want you to approach this question from a place of openness,
A place of possibility,
A place of invitation,
To wisdom,
To guidance,
To be shown something,
To be opened up,
To view the question and where it leads with a flexible,
Open and subtle mind,
For the next few minutes or so,
Just allowing our minds to go with it and just be free to contemplate and explore and express itself,
Wherever that leads,
Take another slow,
Deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth,
As we contemplate the question,
What if you accepted fully that everything in your life is on you,
That recovery,
Growth,
Healing,
Dream fulfillment,
Everything is on you,
What if you accepted fully that it is all on you,
That recovery,
Growth,
Healing,
Dream fulfillment,
Everything is on you,
So this question,
What if you accepted fully that it is all on you,
That recovery,
Growth,
Healing,
Dream fulfillment,
Everything is on you,
This question points us to potentially an uncomfortable truth,
You know,
Everyone has traumas from the past,
Everyone has been victimized,
Everyone has had issues and unfair things happen to them,
Perhaps during their schooling,
With partners,
With family,
With work,
With life in general,
Perhaps there's been political issues in the country,
Perhaps there's been economic issues,
Market downturns,
Technological advancements,
And this question is causing us to consider that it's on us to deal with,
Or at least it's up to us to respond to it,
To recover from it,
To grow,
To heal,
To fulfill our dreams in spite of it,
And that can be uncomfortable,
Because there's this feeling that when we've been wronged,
When we've been slighted,
We want the person who did it to us,
To apologize,
To pick us up,
To dust us off,
To beg for our forgiveness,
To put us in a position of power over them,
To allow us to choose if we want to forgive,
To choose if we want to forget,
To choose if we want to move on,
To have those wrongs rectified,
At no cost to us,
Because hey,
We were the one wronged,
They were the one that either gained from us,
Or at least put us down,
And even if the issue wasn't caused by anyone,
Maybe it's a disability,
Or an injury,
Psychological problem,
Something that had no cause.
We feel this desire to push this blame outwards,
And not turn the lens inwards to see our own responsibility.
Now I'm not saying in any way that you are responsible for what happened to you,
Or that you are the cause of it,
Or that you deserved it,
I'm not at all saying that,
But what this question suggests to me is the need for us to take responsibility for our responses to the events that happened to us.
The main reason being is that no one else will.
It is on us to take the action,
It is on us to do the work,
It is on us to put in the effort to heal,
To grow,
To take those steps to fulfill our dreams,
It is on us,
Because no one else can do that work for us.
This work,
This work that you're doing now,
Shadow work,
Is you turning the lens inwards on yourself,
Peeking at the parts of yourself that have remained hidden,
That you hid,
That you are unaware of,
The deep darknesses inside.
You have to do that work.
Now in the same way that you have to do that work,
If you discover that you're holding resentments,
Or you're holding yourself back,
Or you're doing something that's blocking yourself,
Self-imposed,
You have to be the one to move beyond those blocks,
You have to be the one to take those steps,
You have to be the one to admit,
To take the ego cut,
To do the effort,
To put in the work.
Even if you need help from other people,
As most all of us do,
You have to ask for the help,
Because most people won't know what help you need unless you tell them,
And even if they do know,
And they do offer the help,
You have to accept the help.
It's not going to come for you.
You know if you find yourself knocked down onto the ground,
The chances are that the person who knocked you down has moved on.
You have to accept that,
And you have to get yourself back up off the ground,
Or at least accept the help and the hand that's been offered to you to pull you up.
And how do you do that?
How do you admit that you need help?
How do you let go of the past enough to move on,
To drop the anger,
The resentment,
The rage,
The confusion,
The annoyance,
The upsetness,
The whatever,
Insert negative emotionality into this space it is,
To allow you to just take that next step to move on?
Well,
If you accept fully that it's all on you,
You start to see that there's no one else that can do it.
There's a quote that goes something along the lines of,
Your current situation,
Your current life,
Is a direct consequence of your habits and behaviours,
Suggesting that where you are now is caused by who you've been in the past.
Now yes,
Once again,
Trauma may have happened,
Bad luck may have happened,
But how long will you let that dictate your life?
If you're feeling pushback at anything I'm saying here,
I invite you to just be open to that pushback,
Turn the lens of awareness towards it,
And just view it.
So,
Ask that part of you that is pushing back what it has to tell you,
Is it saying to you that it's unfair,
That you didn't deserve it,
That it shouldn't have happened,
That if only,
If just,
If they,
Just acknowledge it,
And let that part of you know that you've got it covered,
That you are strong,
That you can handle it,
That although it will take effort,
You're committed to stepping forward into a new life,
Into a new place,
Into a new you,
One in which you look at the consequences of your life,
Square in the face,
And take steps to address it,
Because this is where you are,
Here,
And now,
Right now,
Because no matter what that voice is saying to you,
It's not going to pick you up,
It's not going to heal you,
It's not going to help you to grow.
If it did,
It wouldn't be speaking to you right now,
Because you would have integrated that space,
So instead I ask you to be open to anything that arises,
And to sit in contemplation of the question,
What if you accepted fully that it is all on you,
That recovery,
Growth,
Healing,
Dream fulfillment,
Everything is on you,
What if you accepted fully that it is all on you,
That recovery,
Growth,
Healing,
Dream fulfillment,
Everything is on you.
So,
Well done,
This brings us to the end of the session,
At the bottom of your screen you'll see the option to view the classroom,
Or to ask a question,
And before moving on,
I invite you to take a moment to click through and share your insights,
To read the answers from the other students,
And to hear my replies.
This is an opportunity for deep learning,
Further introspection and insight,
So please don't miss out.
I look forward to seeing you in the next session,
Thank you.
This track was taken from the course Hunt Your Own Shadow,
It's out now and available through my InsightTimer profile.
I invite you to check it out,
And I'll see you there.
