Welcome to this meditation practice where you will be guided in releasing expectations.
In the journey of life we often burden ourselves with expectations,
Creating unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Today we will explore the power of letting go and embracing the present moment as it unfolds naturally.
Life can be very beautiful without expectations when you allow it to naturally flow,
Removing the possibilities for disappointment.
Begin this practice by finding a comfortable seated position,
Allowing yourself for the next 10 minutes to be fully present in this experience.
Keep your back in a straight but at the same time relaxed position and when you feel ready slowly close your eyes,
Connecting with this present moment which is always available to you.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Allowing the air to fill your lungs and belly.
Hold that breath for a moment and exhale slowly through your mouth,
Releasing any tension or stress you may feel.
Repeat this a few times,
Breathing in deeply and exhaling fully,
Feeling how your mind begins to clear with each exhale.
Slowly come back to your normal breathing,
Exhaling out through your nose.
Bring your awareness to your body,
Start with your feet and work your way up,
Relaxing each body part as you exhale gently.
Feel the tension melting away from the soles of your feet up to the crown of your head.
All the strain comes out with each exhale.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Shift your focus to the expectations you carry in your life.
Visualize them as heavy weights on your shoulders,
Burdens you've been carrying for too long.
With each breath,
Feel the weight lifting and the burdens becoming lighter and all these expectations coming out from your body through your toes as you exhale.
Imagine your inhalation like a gentle breeze and your exhalation carrying away these expectations like leaves floating in the wind.
Release the need for things to be a certain way,
Allowing the natural flow of life to guide you.
Bring your attention to a specific expectation that weighs heavily on your mind.
Hold it in your awareness without judgment.
As you exhale,
Visualize releasing this expectation,
Watching it dissolve into the earth.
Repeat this process for any other expectations that arise and be patient with yourself.
Shift your focus to the present moment.
Notice the sensation of your breath,
The rise and fall of your chest,
Embracing the stillness within.
At this moment,
There is no need for control or expectations.
Life is unfolding as it should.
Allow a sense of gratitude to emerge for the simplicity of being present.
Feel the freedom that comes with releasing the need for things to be a certain way.
As we bring this practice to a close,
Carry this sense of acceptance with you into your day.
Whenever expectations arise,
Return to your breath and let go.
Remember you are not defined by expectations and you are here to experience the beauty of life in the present moment.
Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
