Hello and welcome.
This meditation is called Morning Calm Start the Day Consciously.
A gentle guided morning reflection and meditation.
Now before the day takes shape,
Before the mind begins to gather momentum,
This is a quiet moment to simply be aware of something new.
To notice what is already here.
To begin the day from a fresh perspective.
Now attempt to begin each day without the habitual drive of looking ahead,
Rushing,
Hesitating,
Preparing to do something,
To be somewhere.
Before one starts,
Planning before doing anything,
Be present.
Just notice the breath,
The body.
Awaken to the art of simply being aware of where you are.
Importantly,
There is no need to be in a hurry.
Let the body awaken gently,
In harmony,
Quietly,
Calmly.
And when you are ready to rise to greet the day,
Rise slowly,
With ease.
You could start by opening a window,
Allowing fresh air to enter,
Drawing back the curtains,
Letting soft light filter into the room.
Gather yourself,
Spend a few moments centering with the breath,
Slowly,
Relaxed,
Steady,
Quietly and calmly.
Allow the body to settle into its quiet,
Natural rhythm of deep breathing.
Awaken the mind slowly,
Without urgency,
Peacefully,
Still,
Open.
And ask yourself,
Do you need to engage with every thought as it arises?
Or can you quietly allow thoughts to pass by,
Leaving space and stillness,
A clarity?
You may begin to notice that,
Yes,
You can.
You might light some incense,
Or a naturally scented oil burner,
Subtle scents energetically clear the space,
Marking the beginning of a sense of freshness and vitality.
Take a warm shower or a long,
Soaking,
Relaxing bath,
Letting the water cleanse and refresh,
To awaken and nurture the body.
No rushing here,
Just feeling the body relaxing,
Letting go,
Being supportive,
As you quietly begin the day.
Dress in something clean,
Light,
Comfortable,
Something that allows ease of movement.
Then before anything else off of the day,
What will truly benefit and support it?
A glass of warm water,
With a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime juice,
With a slice of ginger and a dash of honey.
Let this be the first nourishment,
A gentle body cleanse,
A quiet act of internal self-care.
Now sit and drink,
Sipping slowly,
Giving the body time to awaken naturally,
As you place more focus on the breath.
Slow,
Deep,
Relaxed breathing,
Just for a few moments,
Be here with the breath.
There is no need to rush this,
Let the slow pace of the breath bring a sense of calm,
Soothing the body and the mind.
If coffee is part of your day,
Maybe consider drinking it a little later,
Giving the body space to awaken in its own natural rhythms without being overstimulated.
Then time for a light,
Wholesome breakfast,
Something simple,
Fresh and nourishing,
Eaten slowly,
Mindfully.
Perhaps fruit,
Whole grains,
Yoghurt,
A smoothie or something freshly prepared,
Nourishment that is light and supportive,
Not anything heavy,
Energetically draining.
And for a moment,
Reflect on your breakfast.
What is convenient or popular is not necessarily nourishing.
You might begin by noticing amounts of sugar sold or highly processed foods,
Choosing where you are able something lighter,
Fresher,
More nourishing,
Supportive,
Sustaining,
Food items with fewer preservatives,
Refined flours or artificial sweeteners and vitamins.
Let the space around you also support the body and mind,
Soft lighting,
Gentle music,
An uncluttered,
Open and inviting space to relax.
Even something as simple as fresh flours to lighten the mind and refresh the senses.
Before turning outward to the day,
Before entering the world,
Allow the mind to remain as quiet and as still as possible.
Spend as little time as possible on social media.
These perhaps can wait until later.
Let your attention rest with what supports your well-being.
Perhaps you could read a few lines of something uplifting,
A poem,
A reflection,
Something that encourages,
Inspires or deepens one's self-inquiry.
And then begin to move the body a few stretches slow,
Mindful movements,
Perhaps yoga or the flow of tai chi.
Or stepping outside into the fresh air,
A short walk,
A light run,
Feeling the air,
Perhaps even going barefoot on the soil or grass.
Morning light awakens the senses gently.
Being in nature is inviting the body's rhythms to naturally rise.
And then come back into the stillness,
Sitting or simply pausing,
No effort,
Nothing to achieve.
The body is present,
Aware,
Awakened,
Breathing quietly as the body and the mind slowly prepare for the day ahead.
You may begin to notice while resting the natural sense of a rising peace or calm,
A quiet aliveness,
Naturally present,
Not created,
But already present,
Recognized when one is still.
Also allocate time to sit and meditate,
Or meditate while you are walking,
A simple moment,
Giving yourself pause to feel,
To observe,
To find a way back to center,
Calm and stillness.
Become comfortable with doing nothing,
Being with yourself,
To awaken inner peace,
Enjoying every detail,
Even the simplest awareness can be impactful.
Sitting quietly alone,
Observing that which soothes,
Inspires or expands,
Feeling gratitude for the small.
In this space there is no need to explain or justify anything to anyone.
Remain still,
Present.
Now if this supports,
There are many tracks on my Insight page,
Both free and for subscribers.
These gently support your mornings and the quiet moments of returning to your quiet essence.
And now from here the day can begin,
Not from a sense of urgency,
Not from old habits or planning ahead,
Filling your mind with thoughts about what needs to be done,
But by being present,
Here in the now,
From a place of gentleness,
Nurturing,
Clarity,
Self-care,
With a freshly recognized self-awareness.
Take a moment now before the energies need to move,
To notice how you feel.
How does the body and mind now feel after all of these supportive suggestions and activities?
And as the day begins,
As you leave the house,
You may find yourself returning,
Being reminded of this new sense of self-care,
Of deeper awareness presence.
And remember your home is your sanctuary,
There whenever you need to rebalance,
To come back to centre and calmness.
And if you wish to continue supporting your mornings,
There are a number of tracks just mentioned on Insight,
Ones from simple meditation guidance,
To calming music,
To somatic breath and body practices.
Some of these are called clear bright mind,
Stillness before thought,
Somatic rest,
Somatic reset for anxiety,
Or the ABCs of building a meditation practice.
There are also nature visualizations and soft supportive relaxing music for calm.
And also evening tracks to help you unwind later in the day.
Take what resonates in what supports you in your own time,
A resource for personal benefit growth,
Insight.
And finally,
Remember,
The essential awareness of your clarity,
Calm and peaceful presence is open and free,
Undisturbed by thoughts,
By all manner of activities,
Experiences,
Emotions and points of view.
Behind all of these,
One's natural essence is one of calm and peaceful stillness.
