Engaged Mindfulness Institute

The Engaged Mindfulness Institute (EMI), formerly known as the Peacemaker Institute, was founded in 2001 by Fleet Maull, Ph.D., and Vita Pires, Ph.D. The Institute delivers training developed from a rich tradition of spiritually grounded, contemplative, and mindfulness-based peace and social change work, as well as the latest developments in neuroscience-based leadership training. Engaged Mindfulness Institute is a project of Prison Dharma Network, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit serving prisoners and prison staff for over 35 years. Fleet Maull, PhD, CMT-P, is an author, consultant, trainer, meditation teacher, and executive coach who facilitates profound transformation for individuals and organizations through his philosophy and program, Radical Responsibility. He is a tireless and dedicated servant leader working for positive social transformation. Fleet is a senior mindfulness meditation teacher in two highly respected traditions (Soto Zen and Shambhala) with ancient roots and international scope. Vita Pires, Ph.D. (also known as Kate Crisp) has been the executive director of Prison Dharma Network (Prison Mindfulness Institute) since 1999. She is the author of "Path of Freedom: Mindfulness-Based Emotional Intelligence" and "Navigating Conflict with Buddhist Wisdom and Practices," both of which were created as workbooks and online courses for prisoners.
