Welcome to this meditation.
Where we're going to practice gratitude for the unconscious ambient goodness.
That we get to experience in this life.
So let's start simply.
By saying thank you.
As we welcome ourselves to this space.
Acknowledge the fact that you've made time for yourself today for this practice.
And by doing so,
By taking care of yourself.
You are giving yourself the resources to give back to the world.
So this kind of care is circular.
Settle in.
Make yourself comfy.
Feel your body in this space.
Feel your weight sinking down into whatever supports you.
Breathe.
Fill yourself up with air.
And release.
Let's say thank you to the things we've forgotten to notice.
We live inside so much goodness that it becomes invisible.
The way the body knows how to breathe.
The fact that the floor is solid beneath your feet.
10,
000 ordinary miracles happening right now in your body.
In your heart.
In the world outside your window.
We all notice what goes wrong.
We were built to.
That's what kept our ancestors alive.
But it means that the vast and quiet,
Ordinary goodness of life runs beneath our awareness.
Often uncelebrated and unnamed.
So today.
.
.
Let's name a little bit of it.
Close your eyes if you haven't already.
Take a slow breath.
And let me offer you some things to be quietly,
Peacefully grateful for.
And you don't have to manufacture a feeling of that physical gratitude.
You can just let each one land.
As a small acknowledgement.
The air that arrived when you needed it every single breath of your life.
The water that has come when you turned a tap.
The warmth you have had access to on cold days.
All those people who held the door,
Who smiled back,
Who let you in.
The food that has come to you in the ways it has.
At the time something went wrong and then slowly didn't.
The body that kept going when you were not paying attention.
The mind that found solutions you weren't sure were there.
The sleep that came to restore you even when it was imperfect.
The beauty that arrived unrequested,
The light,
The color,
The sound,
The scent.
The moments of connection that felt like grace.
There is so much.
And there is always so much.
Together we can say thank you.
Thank you for everything I noticed.
And thank you for everything I forgot to.
Take a slow breath.
Come back gently when you're ready.
And thank you for sharing this space with me today.
Have a wonderful day.
