Tamara Myoho Gabrysch

Myoho is a Zen teacher in the White Plum lineage and co-abbot of Zen River temple in the Netherlands. Besides being Tenzo (Zen Cook) for the temple, she is also a musician going by the artist's name Myōra. She creates music using Zen chants, folk-style guitar, fingerstyles, and classical arpeggios. Her experiences of combining Zen practice and sutra chanting, playing guitar, and singing in choirs have greatly influenced her music. Instead of regular lyrics, Myoho English, Sanskrit, Onyomi (Sino-Japanese) and Pali from Buddhist sutras and ancient dharanis, while creating restorative sounds using harmonies. Some of the tracks have been used in hospice work because of their soothing quality.
