Hello,
I am Rashid Zahidi,
Creator and author of the Emojim Journal,
A journal and workbook for emotional awareness and for balancing your wheel of life.
This meditation is for long-distance travel or any kind of travel when you need to find calm in transit.
So welcome,
Whether you're in the air,
Between flights,
Or simply waiting,
This moment is yours.
So when you're ready,
Close your eyes,
If it's safe to do so,
Or simply soften your gaze.
Take a slow,
Steady breath in,
And gently exhale.
One more time,
Slow,
Steady breath in,
And gently exhale.
At your convenience,
Another slow,
Steady breath in,
And gently exhale for as long as is comfortable for you to let that exhale extend.
Feel your body right where it is,
Supported by your seat,
Grounded.
Notice any tension,
And give yourself permission to release it with your next breath out.
Inhale,
And feel the air move through your body.
And when you exhale,
Let go of any tension in your shoulders,
Let go of any tension in your jaw,
Your hands,
Or wherever you may feel that tension.
Inhale the air in,
And exhale.
Let go of this tension,
Wherever it may be.
And let your awareness settle.
There may be noise around you,
Announcements,
Chatter,
Movement,
That's okay.
Let it all be there.
You're not here to fight it.
You're here to come home to stillness within.
Imagine each breath as a gentle rhythm,
A reminder that you are safe,
You are steady,
And you are in no rush.
With each inhale,
Breathe in calm,
And with each exhale,
Release any restlessness or fatigue.
Now,
Bring your attention to your feet.
Even if they are tucked under your seat,
Sense their presence.
Ground yourself,
Right here,
Right now.
Feel the simple truth.
You're moving,
But you are still.
You're in transition,
But you are whole,
And you are complete.
If you're holding expectations or stress about your arrival,
Your schedule,
Or the unknown,
Acknowledge it.
Then gently say to yourself,
In this moment,
I let it go.
And you can repeat quietly,
Or in your mind,
I am grounded.
Even in motion,
I am calm.
Even in waiting,
I am calm.
Take another deep breath in,
Hold,
And slowly exhale,
Softening even more.
And one more deep breath in,
And hold,
And slowly exhale,
Softening even more and more.
When you are ready,
Bring gentle movement back into your fingers,
And into your toes,
And you can open your eyes with ease,
Carrying this calm with you through your journey,
And beyond.
