Sevdah means life, and sevdah means dying. Bosnian kind of melancholic joy. Laughter through tears. The sweetness of sorrow. Sevdah is deep. It is a safe place, the sound of a happy childhood, a memory of what came before — and even before, before life. A hope for what comes after — and even after, after life. Sevdah is love, and it's alive. It lives in Haris Abdagić’s music and life journey. Haris Abdagić is a musician, graduated librarian and comparative literature scholar, composer, and meditation sound creator from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has recorded several instrumental and vocal-instrumental albums, both solo and with his band Balkaneros Banditos, reaching over 60,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Over the years he has collaborated with many prominent musicians, including Joan Baez and Hüsnü Şenlendirici. Haris works as a guitar mentor at the Sarajevo Pop Rock School and as the music host of one of the most-watched TV shows in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together with his 12-year old daughter Kira, he runs a popular Facebook page "Tata i Kira", dedicated to children’s songs and lullabies, followed by a community of over 80,000 people. Out of his love for spirituality and meditation, he blends original soothing guitar with meditative soundscapes. Inspired by the Bosnian traditional music called Sevdah, he weaves its spirit into his sound designs. With extensive experience in music production and sound design, he has also composed for several documentary films.
