Hello friends.
My name is Samantha,
The Blissful Soul.
In my work with women's health and the nervous system,
I've found that many of us resist slowing down because,
To a wired body,
Stillness can feel like a loss of vigilance,
But your nervous system is incredibly responsive.
Neuroscientists have found that it takes just 180 seconds,
About the time it takes to brew a single cup of coffee to break a stress loop and shift your body's chemistry.
You don't need a week-long vacation to find peace.
You just need to give your brain a three-minute window to realize that right here in this moment you are safe.
So let's take a small pause to tell your body it's okay to let go.
Use this any time you feel you are on high alert.
For now,
Keep your eyes open.
Begin to let your gaze wander slowly around the space you're in.
Your brain's primary job is to scan for danger.
So let's give it permission to finish that job.
Look for three things that are your favorite color,
Or notice where the light hits a surface.
Either is fine.
As you see these familiar things,
Let your shoulders drop.
You are in a stable environment.
There is nothing you need to react to right now.
Now bring your attention to your physical body.
You don't have to be perfectly still.
Just notice the weight of your legs.
Feel the exact points,
Where your body meets the chair or the floor.
Take a moment to remind yourself,
The chair or the ground is doing 100% of the work of holding me up.
You don't have to hold yourself up.
You are being supported.
If you feel a wiggle or a fidget,
That's just energy moving.
Let it be there while you feel the heavy,
Solid support beneath you.
If it feels okay,
You can soften your gaze or close your eyes for just three breaths.
Inhale slowly,
Feeling your ribs expand.
And as you exhale,
Imagine your muscles turning into sand,
Settling deeper into that support.
That is your 180 seconds.
You've just signaled to your nervous system that slowing down is safe.
You didn't lose your edge,
You just sharpened it.
When you're ready,
Give your fingers a little wiggle,
Take one more full breath,
And bring the sense of safety back into your day.
Thank you for practicing with me.
