So,
Inviting you to find your comfortable meditation posture,
Sitting or lying down.
Gently closing your eyes,
Relaxing your shoulders,
Relaxing your arms and your hands,
Your chest,
Your upper and lower back,
Relaxing your belly,
Your legs and your feet,
Inviting your whole body to relax and giving yourself permission to be here just for this relatively short amount of time,
Allowing yourself to step out of the busyness of life and listening to what you really need right now.
Perhaps some rest,
Perhaps a break from life's woes,
Maybe life is leaving you alone,
Noticing how you are right now.
So with whatever you find,
Imagine smiling back at it as best you can,
And this isn't a fake smile,
But a kind gentle smile,
One that understands that there might be some pain,
There may be some suffering mixed in with all of this,
Perhaps a smile of compassion,
Maybe that smile knows deep down something that you don't know.
Allowing your body to sink a little deeper into the surface that you're resting on,
And allowing that inner smile coming from your heart to go to all the places where it's needed,
Perhaps those darker places we have that we turn away from,
Any past wounds,
Any present wounds that are here right now,
Sitting and breathing from your heart,
Noticing where else you can feel that inner smile,
Maybe you feel it in your eyes,
Your eyes lighting up like two bright stars,
Perhaps lifting your head up a little bit as if you're turning towards the sun,
And if you want to you can imagine the sun shining down on you,
Lighting up your whole body,
And imagining your whole body smiling now,
Every cell of your body,
And then inviting you to give this life,
This ridiculous life,
The biggest inner smile that you can,
This is a smile that knows and sees it all,
Know that life is a mystery,
To be lived and loved with all our heart,
Our smiling heart,
Now taking a deep breath in,
Breathing out,
Gently opening your eyes when you're ready.
