Welcome to this meditation on setting intentions for the new year.
Go ahead and settle into a comfortable seated position.
Feel free to stretch,
Wiggle,
Move in any way until your body feels settled.
If you'd like you can close your eyes for this practice or you can simply keep a soft steady gaze in front of you.
And begin by bringing your attention just to the rhythm of your breath.
Receive each breath and let the rhythm of your breathing soothe you.
Then take a nice deep inhale,
Breathing in and breathing out.
Take another nice deep breath in,
Inviting in the new energy of the day.
Letting that air fill your body.
And then as you exhale,
Begin to let go of any tension or tightness you may be holding onto in your body.
Take one more deep breath in,
Feeling the fresh air go all the way in.
And as you exhale,
Feeling that air go all the way out,
Letting go.
Gently let go of all control of your breathing and allow your body to return to its normal natural rhythm.
Just that slight tingling of oxygen gently waking up your body.
Feel the support of the ground beneath you.
Feel the connection of your body to whatever is supporting you and let your body soften.
Allow your body to feel supported and relaxed.
Now place one hand on your heart.
Feel the touch of your hand.
Feel the gentle rising and falling of your chest with each breath.
Sink into a deep connection to yourself.
Feel a connection to your heart.
And as we begin this new year,
Let's begin with some gratitude.
I am grateful for my breath.
I am grateful for this body.
I am grateful for an opportunity to live today and to start this new year.
I am grateful for the people who love me and for those I'm privileged to love.
I am grateful for today.
Now take a deep breath in and release as you exhale.
And on this new day in this new year,
Today I choose love.
To be love,
To give love,
To receive love.
Today I choose kindness.
Kindness for myself and for others.
May I set an intention today and each day to listen deeply to my inner voice and to honor that voice.
May I move through this year with strength and with tenderness.
May I know when to push and when to let go.
May I accomplish those things that fill myself and others with joy.
And may I contribute at least a drop into the ocean of goodness in this world.
May I know today and always that I am whole,
That I am love,
That I am enough just as I am.
Taking one more deep breath in,
Breathing in all the possibilities of the day and the year ahead.
And as you exhale,
Letting go,
Sinking into being just where you are.
Take these last few moments of quiet and stillness and use this opportunity to sit in the richness of your own intentions.
Take a moment to identify any other intentions you may want to add to this morning's practice.
Beautiful and let's seal this practice with one last deep breath together.
So breathing in,
Feeling the openness and spaciousness and infinite possibility of the year ahead.
And as we exhale,
Letting go,
Relaxing into this moment.
Beautiful.
Whenever you're ready,
You can slowly raise your gaze or open your eyes.
And have a beautiful,
Beautiful day.
