So today we're going to talk about skin.
The boundary between you and the external world.
Settle yourself in where you find yourself standing seated or perhaps lying down and begin to notice the volume of your body.
Feeling the fullness of yourself.
Getting into all of it.
Getting your pulse,
Filling your body with blood and nutrition.
Settle into your body as the seat of your being.
Relaxing there.
Slowing down your breath and your metabolism.
Take note of the world outside your body.
Its sounds.
Take note of the scents around you.
Continuing to breathe and bring in air from the outside.
And expel air from inside your body.
Once you've settled and taken note of your interior space and attended to your surroundings,
Find the thin,
Permeable,
Special,
Wonderful boundary between the two,
Your skin,
Your largest organ.
Pay attention to the spaces where your self interfaces with the world around you.
Perhaps the skin of your forehead taut or soft or warm or cool.
You may not be able to find the words,
But just take note of the sensation at that liminal space between you and the world.
At your own inclination,
Notice other patches of skin where your body interfaces with your environment.
Maybe you can feel soft clothing on your knee or a coolness at the back of your neck.
Maybe notice an itch on your skin.
You don't need to resist.
Just notice,
Ponder the incredible membrane between self and other.
Feel the body and the air tickling.
At that shared space.
Notice the electricity of sensation dancing around your skin.
Some spots coming into focus or going out of focus.
Soothe that boundary with your attention.
Noticing heat and cold.
Development or stillness on that fine layer between you and everything else.
Continue attending to your skin until the close of our time together.
Blessings.
