Hello,
Today we're going to spend some time being mindful of our feelings and emotions.
Feelings are a response to something or someone and we all have them.
Let's begin by settling into your peaceful place,
Lying down with your eyes closed.
Relax by taking a breath in and breathe out.
And again,
Breathe in and then out.
Now think about a time that you were having a strong feeling.
Were you scared?
Or maybe silly?
Maybe you were disappointed or sad or angry.
Being happy or thankful are feelings too.
So is being frustrated or bored or excited or proud.
Is it okay to have feelings and emotions?
Well yes,
They're a part of you.
They come and they go and they change throughout the day and you'll never know what they'll be.
It's really what we choose to do with our feelings that sometimes gets us in trouble.
When we are experiencing feelings before we say something,
We can practice the three gates.
We can be careful not to harm ourselves and each other with our words and our actions.
So pause and ask,
Is what I'm about to say true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?
Remember the three gates because they can save you a lot of trouble.
Now slowly wiggle your fingers and toes and gently open your eyes and come back into your day.
See if you can notice how your emotions change throughout the day and where in your body you notice a certain emotion.
Have a good day.
