Welcome to this guided meditation on inner safety and trust,
A practice in finding refuge within yourself.
Begin by finding a comfortable position for your practice today.
You may choose to sit,
Perhaps on a cushion,
A chair on the floor or you may prefer to lie down on your back.
Whatever you choose,
Allow your body to be supported and held by the earth beneath you.
Take a moment to adjust anything that needs adjusting.
Finding a posture that feels both comfortable and alert.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.
Begin to draw your awareness inward,
Away from the outer world and into the inner landscape of your being.
Allow yourself to become still,
There's nowhere you need to go,
Nothing you need to do.
Just this moment,
Just this breath,
Just being here.
Now,
Bring your awareness to your breath,
Notice the natural rhythm of your breathing.
No need to change it,
Simply observe.
Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest or perhaps the expansion and contraction of your belly.
The soft flow of air moving in and out.
With each exhale,
Let yourself settle a little more deeply,
Softening,
Releasing any tension you might be holding.
Take a few more breaths in this awareness,
Letting the breath carry you deeper into a state of peaceful relaxation.
Now,
I invite you on a journey within,
A journey to discover your inner safe place.
It is a place where you are completely safe,
Completely held,
Completely protected,
A place of trust.
Begin now to imagine and sense about the place where you feel absolutely safe,
Comfortable and at peace.
This might be a place you've been before,
Perhaps somewhere in nature,
In the mountains,
In a forest,
On an island in the ocean,
In the desert or a place that touched something deep within you,
A place that felt healing.
Maybe this is a place that only exists in your imagination,
A place from a dream,
A place you've read about or a place that's forming right now in your mind's eye.
In your inner world,
Anything is possible.
Take your time and allow yourself to search for this place,
Let it reveal itself to you in whatever way it wishes.
You might see images,
Colors,
Shapes or you might simply sense the feeling of this place or perhaps you're thinking about it.
All of these are perfectly fine.
Simply allow whatever wants to arise to arise and welcome it.
If any uncomfortable images or thoughts appear during your search,
Simply acknowledge them and gently move past them,
Knowing with certainty that your safe place exists and you're only need patience to find it.
As you search for and create your inner sanctuary,
Remember that you have access to any resources you might need,
Vehicles to travel there,
Tools to build it,
Materials to shape it,
Even magical helpers if you wish.
In your imagination,
All things are possible.
Do you truly feel safe here?
Do you feel completely at ease?
Or can you make yourself comfortable in this place a little bit more?
Shape this place until it feels exactly right,
Until you feel completely well,
Completely protected,
Completely safe.
And when your safe place feels complete,
When it feels exactly right,
Allow yourself to settle in,
To rest here.
Notice what you see,
What colors surround you,
What shapes,
What light.
Receive the whole place through all your senses.
Become aware of the sounds.
What sounds do you hear?
Perhaps stillness,
Perhaps gentle,
Natural sounds,
Perhaps music.
What can you smell?
What scents are in the air?
The freshness of nature?
The comfort of warmth?
Perhaps something soothing.
What can you sense?
Do you feel something on your skin?
Perhaps a gentle breeze,
Warm sunshine,
The softness of what you're resting upon.
Notice your muscles now and how they are feeling in this safe place.
Allow them to soften,
To release.
Take it all in.
Really know what it feels like to be safe in this place,
To be held and supported,
Protected,
Safe.
Feel what you feel like doing.
Maybe you don't do anything,
You're just standing,
Sitting or lying down.
Or maybe you're active and moving.
Whatever you want to do is just right for you.
Rest here for a few moments,
Simply enjoying this place,
The security,
The deep sense of peace that your sanctuary offers you.
Feel into the trust that lives here,
Trust in yourself,
Trust in your resilience,
Trust in your inner strength.
Trust that you are always protected,
Always held,
Always supported,
Always safe.
To help you return here easily in the future,
Choose now a small gesture,
Perhaps touching your heart or bringing your hands together,
Touching your thumbs to forefinger,
A simple movement that you can use as a key to unlock the space within.
Make this gesture now and as you do,
Feel the connection to your safe place deepen,
Linking this movement with this feeling of safety and trust.
Know that whenever you make this gesture in the future,
You can return here,
You can feel this peace,
You can remember this trust.
Rest here now in your sanctuary,
In this feeling of deep trust and safety,
Knowing that this place is always here,
Always accessible,
Always yours.
Now,
When you are ready,
It's time to begin the journey back.
Begin to deepen your breath slightly.
Feel the ground beneath you,
The solid earth supporting your body.
Feel the air around you,
The space you're occupying.
Slowly bring your awareness back to your physical body.
When you're ready,
Wiggle your fingers,
Your toes and find gentle movement to return.
Notice the sounds around you and sense a relaxed alertness growing within.
You're traveling back,
Returning to the present moment,
To the place where you currently are.
Trust that your inner safe place remains within you and you bring with you that sense of trust.
Trust in yourself.
Trust in your capacity to find peace.
Trust that you are held and supported.
When you're ready,
In your own time,
Gently open your eyes and return fully to this present moment.
Acknowledge this journey you've taken and the gift you've given yourself.
