If you're feeling confused today about your behavior,
About your emotions,
About the way you interact with the world and with other people,
And you just can't find any sense in it,
Here's a sweet and juicy and short reminder.
Remember,
Everything that brains and nervous systems do is protective.
Your brain was not designed to experience happiness all the time.
It was designed to protect you.
It was designed to make you survive.
So if you're feeling intense anger,
Reactive,
If you're giving into addictions and other compulsions,
If you feel fear,
Phobic fear,
If you feel distrust,
If you feel envious,
If you sometimes just think,
Why have I reacted like this?
What is the sense behind this?
I have no idea why I am like this.
Maybe you haven't figured out what the exact reason and the exact trigger for that was,
But just know today,
It all stems from your nervous system wanting to protect you.
It's all protective.
And yes,
Maybe some of those behaviors along the line turned out to be more toxic and not so helpful,
But there are ways of regulating that.
And I just hope you know that your nervous system loves you so much.
Even if the things you do,
You want to transform them,
And you want to transform them into love and light and ease,
And that's totally possible.
But all the feelings you're feeling right now,
They're coming out of a place for protection.
So look around you,
Count the things that make you feel safe,
And just know you're safe.
And I hope that helps.
Just to hear this.
I'm Hannah,
I'm a neuroscientist,
And I work with the felt sense to move the nervous system back from trauma states to states of feeling safe.
Hope you have a great rest of your day.
