Meditation on inspiration.

We will begin this meditation with movement.

Find a comfortable place inside or outside where you can stand up and move around freely.

Move your head and neck and begin shaking out your hands and feet.

Stomp your feet and allow your hips and shoulders to relax.

Soften your jaw and deepen your breath,

Inhaling through your nose and exhaling through a relaxed open mouth.

Slow your movements to a gentle rocking side to side.

Close your eyes and see roots growing out the soles of your feet deep into the earth.

Place your hands on your abdomen and feel your breath naturally rising and falling beneath your hands.

Exhale and wrap your arms around yourself and as you exhale,

Hug yourself tighter and become completely still.

Listen intently for the rhythm of your heart beating.

The heart represents your highest genius guiding you silently in the world.

Gradually relax your arms and come to a seated or lying down position.

Let the aliveness of your heart continue to pulsate in your mind and set your intention to connect to the miracle of inspiration.

Ask for guidance to support you in this process.

Make the following requests to your heart.

Show me the truth about who I am.

Take me to where I am most inspired.

Show me the place of deepest passion within my soul.

Relax and surrender to your heart.

Trust all the feelings that arise.

If you get distracted,

Take a deep breath.

And come back to your heartbeat and let it be your guide.

Feel the earth beneath you and let the inspiration you found merge with your body.

Allow your intuitive intelligence to show you a place in your body that holds the experience of inspiration.

Take a deep breath and gently stretch in any way that feels good to you.

As thoughts begin to enter your mind,

Remember that through rooting into the wisdom of your body,

You can reconnect to this experience at any time.

When you are ready,

Take the time to journal,

Draw,

Sing,

Play music,

Dance,

Anything that allows the gift of inspiration to continue to flow through you.

Outstanding. I have come to realize that seated meditation is only one of many techniques, and not always the one that works best for me—so I love this alternative approach. The physical/embodiment aspects of this recording are really useful to me, and the “assignment” to locate the source of one’s creativity and inspiration within the body led to surprising and eye-opening results. Definitely bears repeat listening. Probably not the best place for an absolute beginner to dive in, but this is a terrific approach that requires no specific previous experience or knowledge, so who am I to say?
