It is difficult for children to sit still to meditate. In this playful guided relaxation, parents and young children stretch up, tap their legs tickle their toes (forward fold), and pretend to be a turtle (child’s pose) so they can practice being still. In just a few minutes, you can get the wiggles out and spend some quality time together. Welcome friends.

Let's start by taking a big breath in and then let it go.

Two more just like that.

A big breath in and let it go.

And one more really big breath in and let it go.

All right.

Put your feet straight out in front of you.

Let your legs be straight.

We're gonna reach up our hands really high.

Up,

Up,

Up,

Up,

Up to the sky.

Tickle the sky.

Nice.

Now we're going to tap our legs and fold our body forward.

So tap with me.

Tap your leg once.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap all the way down to your ankles and now pretend like you're tickling your toes.

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle.

Again.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle.

One more time.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

And tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle,

Tickle.

Good job.

Sit up tall.

Take a big breath in and let it go.

Now today let's be a turtle.

So get on your hands and knees and we'll start by sitting back on our feet.

Almost like you're sitting like a puppy.

Now you're gonna take your elbows down to the ground and your forehead to the ground.

Your knees are underneath you and you're curled up in a little ball facing the floor.

Take a big breath in here and let it go.

Now pretend you are a teeny tiny little turtle.

Tuck yourself in as small as you can.

Tuck in really tight into your safe little shell.

Take a big breath in and let it go.

Nice.

Now turtles,

When they're in their shell they're very safe.

So pretend you've got a hard shell on your back and you're the tiniest turtle in the world.

You might even say to yourself,

I am safe.

So in a little teeny tiny turtle voice say to yourself,

I am safe.

Yes.

Take another breath in,

Let it go,

And sink down into the sand,

Little turtle.

Nice.

Take another big breath in,

Let it go.

Nice work,

Little turtle.

Stay in your shell as long as you like.
