This is a focused meditation in the Christian tradition of lectio divina. We repeat a verse and meditate on it deeply, repeating it over and over, saturating the mind. For this meditation, the verse is: "All the while the breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils." Job 27:3 For more, visit my website.

the Spirit of God is in my nostrils so we begin by assuming an erect and dignified posture for you the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwelleth in you 1 Corinthians 3 16 the temple of God is holy which temple ye are posture erect and dignified the Lord is in his holy temple that all the earth keep silence before him Habakkuk 2 verse 20 all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils I will pin my attention on the nostrils breathing in breathing out all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils now the breath comes in and now the breath goes out so I keep meditating on this verse all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils I feel the touch of the breath coming in and going out you you you the Hebrew word for spirit is nishama nishama is a cognate of nishima which literally means breath this breath came from God and is the source of part of man's soul the New Testament we find pneuma which refers to the Holy Spirit the spirit by which the body is animated the breath or the wind continue meditating like this feeling the touch sensation of the breath living breath as it comes in and as it goes out all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you you you we have an amazing relationship with this breath we do not understand it is a gift that brings the ultimate gift of life the Spirit of God hath made me and the breath of the almighty hath given me life jope 33 4 and in this lifetime we can know peace by following this breath by respecting it by appreciating what it means it may seem like a little thing but everything you experience comes because it comes he that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also and much the breath is no small thing all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils continue meditating on this verse as you breathe in as you breathe out you you you you you you our sense of value and of importance is determined by what we get accomplished our valuation of our failure or success comes from the outside but the breath doesn't judge your worthiness it touches you like the sunshine or the rain whether you're a saint or sinner a success or failure as the world defines it it comes to you because it is supposed to come all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you you you appreciate the beauty of your own existence with each breath admire the simplicity of being as life unfolds moment by moment courtesy of this breath all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you i will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord the deeds for which he is to be praised according to all the Lord has done for us yes the many good things he's done according to his compassion and many kindnesses is a 63 verse 7 you're being breathed you're not sending a signal from your brain stem down the spine to the diaphragm to contract to take the breath to cause the oxygen exchange you're being breathed all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you you you you you you this breath to receive the gift that is given here comes another one and another one and another one all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you continue riding this breath to deeper sense of peace follow its natural rhythm the mystery of life is dancing within you now notice how everything unfolds because you have this breath thoughts emotions sensations consciousness itself the mind may be fickle and attention wavering but the breath is steady and faithful as God is return and rest in its constancy which is of God we have this breath as an anchor for the soul firm and secure the mind wanders again but as soon as you remember and return there it is coming in going out faithful steady coming in going out all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you surrender and trust God is the breath of the breath all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you you what's it like to receive a brand new breath experience that you've never taken this breath before and you'll never take it again again another one comes with it comes a new moment and within each moment of many choices for the next few moments choose gratitude gratitude for this breath gratitude for this gift which brings all other gifts sight hearing the ability to move the ability to observe the abilities understand the ability to feel the ability to celebrate this experience of being human all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you've been given a gift don't throw it away or depreciate its value don't let it come and go without recognizing what it is its preciousness not all the gold in the world can buy this it comes and at least for this moment when you're not so busy thinking about something else some title some accomplishment something outside of you ourselves we can deepen our appreciation all the power of existence the billions of years it took for this universe to create the likes of you in this moment comes because the breath touches you all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils you you all the while the breath is in me and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils let us close with a prayer of gratitude give thanks unto the Lord for his mercy and dearth forever
