Well,
Welcome.
Let's just take a moment just to breathe for a second.
So I've been thinking lately,
Contemplating how life can really feel like it's moving very quickly.
Thoughts are circling,
Conversations being had,
Decisions pressing in,
Sensations shifting,
News,
Big world news,
Responsibilities,
Uncertainty,
And sometimes it can really feel as though everything is swirling inside the mind and outside the mind.
But before we move toward calming anything,
Before we attempt to quiet anything,
Let's just notice something much simpler.
That even when everything is swirling internally and externally,
There's something that is not swirling.
Let's begin there today.
Again,
Just let your body settle exactly as it is.
Let the breath move naturally,
Nothing to force here.
Just let it move as it wants to move.
Just notice.
Notice there are sensations.
There are sounds.
There may be thoughts moving around.
Let them move.
And again,
Just notice what does not change,
What does not move,
What isn't swirling.
Just sense that.
Again,
Thoughts may be arising or even speeding up,
Perhaps of images,
Memories.
Let them spin if they spin.
And just notice.
Are you the truth of who you are spinning?
Can that actually change?
Or is this pure presence that you are simply just aware of everything?
Everything that's moving.
Without trying to create stillness,
See if you can sense what is already still.
Just by noticing what is here before any effort.
Just sensing that steady,
Quiet presence that is your true nature.
The mind wants to make this all very complicated,
But it really is just that.
Just sensing what's here.
And we do not have to silence the mind to discover this,
To be this.
The quiet presence we are speaking of is not the absence of thought.
It's actually just this space in which thoughts and sensations and movement appears.
If the concept of trying to get this right arises,
You might ask,
Who is the one trying to get this right?
Is this pure,
Divine nature of who you truly are trying to get this right?
There's a gentleness here.
There isn't anything for you to try to become or somewhere for you to go and get to.
Just sensing this quiet presence that's always been present.
Well,
Before the first thought of the day,
Before the first identity formed,
Before the story of me,
There's just simple presence.
That is what you are.
If you find yourself noticing that perhaps you weave in and out of being lost in thoughts,
You,
The truth of who you are,
Can never be lost in thoughts.
Thoughts are simply arising and nothing has gone wrong.
As we gently begin to close this session,
We notice that we didn't try to conquer the mind.
We simply just recognized what has never been moving.
And that recognition is available in the middle of any moment.
When things feel loud,
When emotions feel big,
When life feels uncertain,
When the world feels uncertain.
So we're not trying to escape the swirling of it all.
We can just rest as what is always still,
Even while the movement continues.
So if your eyes were closed,
You can just let them open gently,
Noticing the room and the body,
The sounds.
Thank you for being here with me.
Thank you for joining,
For recognizing the true essence of what you are,
Of what we all are.
Namaste.
