Welcome,
Welcome.
I'm so glad you're here.
I've sort of given this meditation a bit of a title and it's peace in the midst because I feel like we've just been taught without even realizing it that peace is something we need to go out and find.
So we start adding things,
More meditation,
More spiritual practices,
More affirmations,
More books,
More doing.
We build routines,
We seek the right tools,
We chase healing as if it's something just out of reach.
But I continue to ask and remind myself,
What if peace isn't waiting on the other side of all of that effort?
What if it's right here,
Already here,
Beneath the layers of trying,
Even now,
Even in the midst of it all,
In the midst of the chaos,
In the presence of a diagnosis,
In the midst of the pain and sorrow of world events happening right now,
In the thick of pain,
Whether it's physical,
Emotional,
Or both.
What if there is something steady,
Something still,
Something real,
And that something is not separate from us.
It's not separate from you.
It's not separate from me.
It is you.
It is me.
There's a stillness beneath every sensation.
There's a presence beneath every thought,
A peace that doesn't need the pain to go away in order to be felt.
And when we stop trying to reach for it and instead rest into it,
We remember what's always been true,
That we are not the one who's seeking peace.
We are the peace,
Because peace is our true nature.
And it's changeless,
But not to the ego,
Of course.
So let's remember that peace together in this meditation.
If you'd like,
You can take a big,
Deep breath in through your nose and release as we allow our body just to relax in this moment.
You can close your eyes if you haven't already.
And just let your body settle into a posture that feels easy and natural,
Perhaps letting your shoulders drop,
Your forehead relax,
Let the belly loosen,
Let the hands rest softly,
And let your attention meet the breath,
Not to change it,
Just to feel it.
Feel the inhale as it enters,
And feel the exhale as it leaves.
Nothing to force,
Just letting the breath be as it is,
Letting the body be as it is,
Letting the mind be as it is.
Let whatever wants to arise,
Arise.
Perhaps it's a sensation in the body,
An emotion,
A thought,
Let it all come without resistance.
You're not here to change what's happening.
You're here to let it be exactly as it is.
Notice how each thing that appears also disappears.
A tightness,
And then space,
A thought,
And then quiet,
A feeling,
And then another.
They all move.
But what doesn't move?
What is aware of this changing?
What is that something?
That remains untouched by it all?
If thoughts come,
It's okay.
Simply come back and allow yourself to rest as that awareness.
Not the thought,
Or the pain,
But the one who sees,
The quiet witness behind it all.
There's a peace that needs nothing from us.
Perhaps you might ask yourself,
Who is the one trying to heal?
Might I be the space where healing happens?
Can I let this pain,
This sensation,
This thought,
Be here without making it wrong?
Without trying to change it?
Can I let it be here?
Let the questions simply drop beneath the surface of thought.
Let them rest in stillness.
Let them be revealed.
Not through answers,
But through presence.
You're simply resting.
Not as the one who needs the healing.
Just as what you are already.
Still.
Whole.
Unmoving.
Present.
Formless.
Changeless.
That is what you are.
Slowly and gently,
Begin to return to the body.
Feel the weight of your legs.
The rise and fall of your breath.
The lightness of your breath.
The quiet around you.
Peace is not a moment.
It's not in my words.
It's not a state.
It's your nature.
So we can let the mind do what it does.
We can let the body feel what it feels.
We can let the world spin as it will.
Then we can remember.
We can stay here.
Beyond this meditation.
So let your eyes open slowly.
And remember that peace is always here.
Especially in the midst of it all.
Thank you for remembering with me today.
Thank you for joining me.
I hope you enjoyed.
Namaste.
