Hi and welcome.
My name is Joy Koneska.
This is a beginner friendly guided meditation around the word peace.
We will first get centered in the breath and then explore the meaning of peace and I will also read five quotes about peace for you to ponder.
Now,
This meditation,
It's meant to give you maybe a broader awareness of what peace is or should I say what peace can be.
I encourage you to have an open mind and to really listen to your own heart.
Your heart,
It's your true guide in this practice.
Feel free to pause on any part of the meditation longer if you're needing more time.
So,
Find a safe place to meditate.
Sit in a comfortable position with a tall spine.
That's gonna allow you to breathe with ease.
Adjust the volume of my voice and you'll want to soften the gaze over the tip of your nose or feel free to close your eyes whichever you prefer.
Now,
Even though I'm guiding you in this practice today,
Meditation is personal.
So,
Feel free to guide yourself as you see fit for you and just a reminder that it's completely normal if your mind wanders to other things and when you notice this happening,
You'll just wanna come back to my voice or simply back to your practice.
We all go to other places in our mind from time to time.
So,
Just be gentle with yourself.
So,
Let's get started.
Let go of what you need to do in the future or what has happened in the past and let's just get into the present moment by focusing in on our breath.
The breath just helps us to get into the now.
Feel the inhalation.
Feel the exhalation.
And with your mind's eye,
Follow the inhalation in the body.
And follow the exhalation out of the body.
Relax the shoulders,
Relax the muscles of the stomach,
And just breathe with ease.
Rising breath,
Falling breath.
Now,
Let's shift our minds to the word peace.
Now,
The definition of peace is a state of tranquility.
Think of the word peace.
What does the word peace mean to you?
Now,
I'm going to read five separate questions.
I'm going to read three quotes about peace and these are going to vary from the Bible to Buddha to a philosopher and even a rock star.
I'll read through each one twice and then I'm going to give you a minute to just sit with the words you hear.
So,
Try to just listen to the words without creating any of your hearing.
Just try to create a visual space to ponder the words that you hear.
Let's get started with our first quote from Buddha.
Peace comes from within.
Do not seek it without.
Peace comes from within.
Do not seek it without.
The next quote is from Mother Teresa.
If we have no peace,
It is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
If we have no peace,
It's because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
The next quote is from Albert Einstein.
Peace cannot be kept by force.
It can only be achieved by understanding.
Peace cannot be kept by force.
It can only be achieved by understanding.
The next quote is from the Bible from the book of James 318.
Those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace.
Those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace.
And this last quote is a variation from Marcus Aurelius.
Nowhere can one find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in their own soul.
Nowhere can one find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in their own soul.
And now take a minute to revisit the word peace and what it means to you.
And when you're ready,
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Feel your rising breath.
Feel your falling breath.
And bring yourself back to your body and to your surroundings.
And feel a sense of completion with this meditation.
Only when you're ready,
You may feel free to open your eyes.
I hope you go out into the world with a little more peace in your heart today.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Again,
My name is Joy Koneska.
Until next time,
May peace be with you.
