Welcome to Find Yourself Meditations.
I'm Julie LeBreton.
I invite you to sit back and close your eyes as we relax our bodies and clear our minds in preparation for our journey.
Let's begin by taking three deep breaths,
Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Allow your body to relax more and more each time you breathe,
Breathing in healing,
Love and light,
And breathing out all the stress and worry from your body.
As we continue to breathe,
We'll begin to focus on relaxing our bodies.
Let's start at our feet.
Lying on your feet as you breathe,
Feel your feet relaxing.
Feel all the tension draining out of your feet.
This feeling of relaxation continues up your legs and thighs as they begin to relax.
As you continue to breathe,
Focus on your lower back.
Feel it relax.
Breathing in and out,
Continue to relax your body.
Feel all the tension leave your upper back and shoulders.
Feel your arms and hands relax.
Feel your neck and face relax.
Feel your whole body fully relax.
See yourself fully relaxed.
Now let's empty our minds.
As thoughts arise,
Think of them as leaves floating on a stream.
Allow them to slowly float away from you.
The thoughts become fewer and fewer until soon there are no more leaves,
Just clean,
Clear,
Flowing water.
You find yourself in the desert at night.
The air is cool,
But the sand beneath your feet holds the warmth of the day.
As you walk along,
The sand feels so good under your feet.
You are contemplating sitting down and sinking into it.
Then there is a streak of light across the horizon,
A shooting star.
You are about to make your wish when you realize the shooting star is headed your way.
It crashes into a sand dune not far from you.
Sand rises up in the air around it,
Shimmering gold and slowly rains back to the earth.
As air clears,
You see that where there once was a sand dune,
There is now a beautiful,
Lush tropical oasis.
It is surrounded by glowing torches,
Their flames flickering in the night,
Inviting you to come closer.
As you approach,
You take in the beauty of this oasis.
There are tall palm trees and tropical bushes in full bloom.
A path leads into the oasis and you notice there is a glowing campfire inside.
Curious,
You walk down the path.
Beside the campfire sits an ancient-looking man.
He wears white flowing robes and a turban.
His skin is brown and leathery and his eyes are the bluest you have ever seen.
He has a long,
Well-kept beard and gold jewelry.
He smiles and beckons you to come closer.
Welcome,
He says.
I was just passing by and I thought I could be of service.
Are you a genie,
You ask?
Ah,
Well,
I was.
I've been retired for centuries now,
But I still like to grant the occasional wish here and there,
And it seems you are about to make an important one,
He says with a wink.
He picks up what looks like a beautiful golden lantern and you ask,
Is that a magic lantern?
Do I rub it and make my wish?
He chuckles and sets out two matching teacups and pours tea from what you now see is a lovely teapot.
Only if you were wishing for tea,
He smiles and hands you a cup.
Sit down and I'll tell you how it works,
He says.
Now that I'm retired,
I don't go around giving away my services,
But I'm willing to trade if you're interested.
He picks up a long stick and pokes at the coals of the campfire.
It's going out,
You see,
He says.
This is an enchanted fire and only someone like you can help me keep it going.
How can I help,
You ask?
It's simple,
He says.
I need you to give me something you don't want,
Some emotional baggage you've been carrying around that you don't want to carry anymore.
That's what keeps this fire going.
He snaps his fingers and a sheet of parchment paper and a charcoal pencil appear before you.
Just write it down.
Write down what you don't want in your life anymore.
What have you been carrying around that you're ready to release into the fire?
You pick up the pencil and think.
What have you been carrying around?
What could you finally be free from?
Resentments,
Fear,
Anger,
Anxiety.
You take a few minutes to think and write.
Are you ready to let go of these things,
He asks.
Are you ready to be free?
You nod and he says,
Put your paper in the fire.
You place your paper into the campfire and it crackles as it catches on fire.
The flames shoot up 20 feet into the sky.
Magnificent,
The genie says,
Clapping his hands.
It must feel wonderful to let go of all that.
My fire will burn for a decade on what you've been carrying around.
Well done,
Well done.
And now in exchange,
I will grant you a wish.
Just know now that I'm retired,
I don't grant silly self-indulgent wishes.
So please make a wish that will truly make a difference in your life.
He snaps his fingers and another sheet of parchment paper appears.
Write down what you wish to bring into your life,
He says.
You already know what you want to write.
Now that the fire has taken away all which doesn't serve you,
You can see what you really need in your life.
You begin to write.
Are you finished,
The genie asks.
You nod and he snaps his fingers again.
It is done,
He says.
You look down and see the parchment in your hands has become a golden star.
When you look back up,
You find yourself all alone,
Sitting on a quiet sand dune in the warm sand of the desert.
And now when you're ready,
Opening your eyes,
Bringing back the magic of your wish and taking it with you out into the world.
