You might have this thought in your head that thinks that because I am somebody who writes and voices and creates these meditations and shares them with women all over the world that I'm a very calm and cool and collected and patient person.
Sometimes I am,
But honestly,
I lose my cool a lot.
Of course,
Many times it's in interaction with my young kids.
This idea of having a meditation,
Praying for patience,
Came to me just after another fight with my young daughter trying to get her ready for school in what seemed like this series of fights with her over and over again.
After this fight,
I of course apologized to her and realized at that moment I actually needed more.
I needed more help to dance with her in these situations that felt really heavy.
Perhaps you have felt the same.
And I knew that I needed a full prayer for patience,
To really open myself to be flooded with patience.
So out these words came.
And if you have ever felt yourself in a moment of extreme stress or frustration,
I hope these words really touch your heart.
When tension is rising,
My body and mind are tight.
I come here seeking patience to release the heavy fight.
What I want so desperately is not coming easily.
I try and try and try again,
Angry I can't control when.
It's not here right now,
My brain is exploding,
Tied in a twisted knot.
Take this feeling,
They take this strain away,
Open a space for more,
I can't take it anymore.
Breathe,
I hear my soul request,
Just breathe,
There's no need to be so stressed.
I slowly let my mind detach from what I desire,
The outcomes,
The lifestyle,
The things I want to acquire.
I release,
Controlling hands,
My attachment to these things,
Watch them float away,
Feel the calmness it brings,
As breath fills the space,
So tight,
Before,
Feel myself unfolding,
Creating space,
It's not here right now,
I can see options,
There's room for me to grow.
Take this feeling last,
Patience has amassed,
The tightness has been cleared,
Has appeared.
