Hello,

This is Carrie,

And I'm powered with it.

And find a nice,

Peaceful place where you can relax.

You can lie back or sit back.

When you're ready,

Close your eyes.

And then just focus on the breath.

Breathing easily.

Gently and rhythmically.

Feeling the head,

Neck and shoulders softening.

Going loose and limp.

As you breathe,

Allow your shoulders to drop a little.

Feel the arms becoming heavy.

Softly sinking.

Feel the fingers.

And maybe even open and close that hand.

To further relax the fingers.

Take in a deep breath and feel your chest,

Releasing,

Relaxing.

And then softly settling.

And with the next deep breath,

Breathe into the belly.

And then let go all the tension.

Feel the belly.

Just softening.

And then with the next breath,

Breathe into your legs.

And then when you exhale,

See and feel all that energy release from the soles of your feet.

And feel the muscles in your legs.

And then just take this moment to pretend and feel as if your body is arachnoid.

Or an old,

Adored teddy bear.

And you are loose and limp.

So comfortably relaxed.

And allow that feeling and sensation become a part of you.

Allow it to really feel good within you.

And you know my friend,

Everyone has a different way.

And how we handle and process grief.

Sometimes when life is very busy,

We can't handle the grief or the loss of a loved one.

So we stuff it down.

We try to avoid those feelings and emotions.

And the truth of the matter is,

No matter how hard we try to ignore it,

Eventually those unresolved feelings,

Thoughts and emotions bubble to the surface.

And we do have to stop and examine and listen to those messages from our body,

From our heart,

From our mind and spirit.

And I know some people have said that the mourning process takes at least a year.

And I say,

It all depends on your perspective,

On the process of death.

For we are all eternal beings.

For everything that exists is eternal.

You know that everybody dies.

Including me.

The trees.

The animals.

The birds.

The rivers.

The old decaying abandoned houses.

And even stars.

They all die.

Yet they are all born.

And in fact reborn.

And it is all in the perfect time and space sequence.

For we have really not lost anything.

The one you love is still with you.

In your heart.

And no one can ever take that away from you.

And you know my friend,

That you are giving yourself time and space to go through this natural,

Normal process of life.

You will be gentle with yourself.

For the one you love wants you to be gentle and kind and loving to yourself.

So give yourself permission to go through the grief in your own unique way.

If it takes the full year before it begins to dissipate,

So be it.

If it takes six to eight months before it begins to dissipate,

So be it.

But know this.

That you can never lose anyone.

Because you have never owned anyone.

And in what will seem like the twinkling of an eye.

You can and well connect with that soul again if you so desire.

For even now,

As you listen to these words,

The one that you love hears these words too.

And in some way,

You can see or feel a glimpse of their face.

Sense their warm,

Loving presence.

And they are smiling at you with the sweetest,

Most beautiful smile.

They want the best for you.

They want you to find compassion and understanding for you.

For all is understood and forgiven and even resolved on the other side.

So you,

In this moment,

Can be at peace with the grieving process.

You can accept the passing of your loved ones and know that their suffering has ended.

And they sincerely hope that your suffering and heartache will end soon as well.

All is truly well.

And if you like,

You can ask the one that you love.

Whether it is a friend,

Family member,

A husband or wife,

A child or even a pet,

To give you a sign of some sort that is so clear you cannot mistake it.

And they well do it.

You can always quiet your mind and communicate with them.

And so,

When you are ready,

In your own time and in your own way,

You can bring your awareness back into this room,

Back into your body.

And when you open your eyes,

You will feel better.

You will have a sense of relief.

And you will get all the clarity you need.

So be gentle with yourself.

Smile and have a wonderful day.

And this is so.

This meditation was a beginning to soothe the sadness of grief and loss. I liked the suggestion of asking for a sign from the loved one that one is grieving to offer hope and understanding that all is well. To know that we are eternal is a beautiful thought and often the hardest to grasp when we have the missing of our beloved so fresh in our hearts. Thank you for the encouragement to be gentle on ourselves.
