A sunrise practice ushering in gratitude and helping to set life-affirming intentions for the day, assisted by the sun's rising power and vision of giving life to all creation. Especially useful during the holiday season, in the months where the sun is scarce and we seek it's light and warmth, over the winter months and when we perhaps sense others are far away from us. It suggests focusing on thankfulness and how to generate a "to be list" instead of a "to-do list" during this season.

Good morning and welcome to guided meditation from RunningAnthropologist.

Com.

We begin by settling ourselves solidly into the earth,

Awakening to a sunrise and allowing the sun to awaken us.

Today we welcome our breath.

Just as it rises slowly,

The sun,

Full of intention,

So do we.

With each breath joining all creatures in a daily rebirth of life,

Of creation,

Of this day.

Today we will set an intention.

You can keep in mind any intention,

But let me suggest that the sunrise serve as a way for you to envision,

To visualize your intention gently rising.

With this breath and with each breath we let go of yesterday and we feel all of the possibilities of today.

The sun not only illuminating the sky,

But also our mind and our heart,

Full of possibility.

And with each breath we strengthen our intention or our goal,

That thing that we are wishing to bring about today.

If nothing comes to mind,

You can simply let your intention be gratitude or thankfulness for the sun rising,

For your life bringing,

For your life bringing and the life bringing of everything across the globe.

As it rises and strengthens,

So does our intention.

Full of warmth,

Such steadiness,

Such beauty ever present around us.

Perhaps the sun reminding us that we just have to shine a light on those little things nearby in order to recognize them and be grateful.

The shining of all life,

Of all things across the globe at this moment on a circular path,

Shedding light a few feet further away from you and then even further carrying on to wake up all beings with its sense of possibility.

In a way,

All people that are slowly waking up to the sun are sharing in your intention,

Somehow in some small way through being reawakened and given another chance,

Another life full of possibility,

Full of individual moments of recognition and of gratitude.

We'll now move on to a short intentional goal.

Perhaps that one intention,

That one thing is enough to focus on.

With your in-breath,

Allowing that intention into your heart,

Perhaps that thing which you are most grateful for,

That series of things.

On the out-breath,

Letting go of anything that is getting in the way or clouding your thoughts,

Anything from the past or anything far in the future,

Giving you anxiety,

Doesn't exist right in this moment,

Just our intention.

Seeing the warmth of the sun's light,

Remembering it's really the universe's way of showing us that each moment can be born anew,

That each moment has the ability to fulfill our intention.

Shining upon us,

Showing us that any new goal or dream or intention is right here,

Right now,

And lives within us with each breath.

Thankfulness,

Gratitude for this opportunity to share this sunrise with you.

Let me just symbolize all of the other people,

Creatures in life joining you at this moment.

As you finish this exercise,

You're welcome to enjoy this intention and the sunrise throughout the day.

Remind yourself whenever you see the sun illuminating something of your intention.

You might also,

After the meditation,

Take a moment to write down one thing that you want to be today instead of to do,

And allow that to be your intention.

It could be joined by things which you are grateful for at the sunrise or throughout the day.

Returning to our breath,

Allowing ourselves to just be with this breath and the next and the next throughout our day.

May peace be with you,

And the meditation will end with the sound of a bell.

INDISTINCT studied at the age of.

How do I want to be, instead of what do I want to do? Brilliant! Thank you for this meditation.
