The night has quietly eased into dawn.

The sound of rolling waves mixes with the stillness of the early morning.

You slowly stroll along the edge of the ocean on this warm summer day.

You are alone in the dim light,

Alone in the stillness of the dawn.

Now and then,

You hear several seagulls serenade you as you walk.

This natural orchestra is soothing to your ears.

The pace of your step aligns with the calming rhythm of the waves flowing in and out.

You absorb the sound and your body relaxes.

Walking further,

Your attention is drawn to the sensations of your bare feet sinking slightly into the cool,

Wet sand.

You anticipate the waves as they roll in with a drum-like whooshing sound stroking your feet with soothing,

Wet coolness.

Ever so slightly,

You feel the subtle grounding energy of the earth underneath your feet.

You gaze out toward the vast sea where horizon and sky fold into each other.

Being here,

You are reminded of favorite lines from a William Blake poem.

To see the world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower.

To hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.

You ponder the poem as you watch the waves roll over the sand.

Even though you have strolled along the ocean many times,

Being here in the dim light,

Smelling the scent of salted sea,

You begin to feel a deep sense of awe.

Like the feeling a child has seeing the ocean for the first time.

A sense of wonder fills your heart and mind and you hold this beauty in childlike delight.

You notice your body small against the vastness of the sea and sand.

Yet you also feel a melting away of the boundaries of you as you meld into this peaceful majestic environment.

Two waves roll up against your ankles.

Your feet sink into the sand.

As you breathe this salt air,

You know that you are an integral part of nature.

Small yet profound.

Time limited yet eternal.

This is your favorite time of day.

Feeling awake and present to witness the rising sun on the horizon.

You have always felt a sense of magic seeing the sun appear on the skyline.

You are deeply present in this space and your breathing is now in sync with the rhythmic rolling in and out of the waves.

And then ever so slightly the fiery edge of the sun appears to rise up gradually out of the sea.

You smile with delight.

It is as if time has stopped and you have transcended the worldly barriers of time and space.

In this moment you are transported into a powerful source of inner stillness and a feeling that you are rising with the sun yet descending deeply into inexpressible truths.

Walking and watching.

You have witnessed the early morning sunrise many times yet it is never mundane.

There is always a feeling of awe and reverence as you witness the expansion of light melt away the dawn.

You ponder another of Blake's poems.

He who binds himself to a joy does the winged flight destroy.

He who kisses the joy as it flies lives in eternity's sunrise.

You smile as your memory floods with previous sunrises,

Sunsets,

Warm days and cold nights,

Times of hope and times of despair.

And yet you have learned to live in the present moment,

To be present for the days of your life.

For there is always the next moment,

The next sunny day,

Or the next stormy night.

Moments that come and go,

Days of joy and sorrow.

You breathe deeply as you watch the sun rise higher in the sky.

You begin to feel the golden rays warming your body.

The morning has arrived.

It is the beginning of a new day,

Of new possibilities.

You embrace the presence of this special time and place.

You feel the peace and joy of this moment.

There is nothing else but now.

The sea,

The sky and you.

You stop for a minute to look back,

Noticing your small footprints in the sand.

The waves roll over them and they begin to gradually disappear.

Signs of your presence here vanishing as you continue to walk forward in the new morning light.

When you leave this place,

There will be no trace that you were here walking on the edge of the sea,

As if there was no beginning and no end.

Night giving way to the dawn.

Yesterday,

Today and tomorrow.

All the moments of your life folding into a tapestry of experiences and memories.

The sun has now risen far above the horizon,

Lighting up the blue sky.

You notice the sun rays sprinkling sparkles of light on the ocean and intermittent shadows on the sand.

It is time to return home.

For a moment,

You contemplate the day ahead,

But then return your attention to the rhythm of your body walking along the edge of the ocean,

Listening to the sounds of the sea.

The sun is behind you now,

Casting your shadowy reflection ahead of you as you walk.

You smile at this phenomenon.

You have learned to not get ahead of yourself.

The future will unfold in its own time and life will give you lessons you need and guide you to your purpose.

You only need to be awake and receptive to your heart's longing.

For now,

There is only the sea,

The blue sky,

The sound of seagulls and waves rolling in and out.

You breathe in the beauty of this moment.

And with curiosity and anticipation,

You embrace the unfolding of this new day.

Stay conscious.
