It's bedtime now.
Time to snuggle into bed and let your eyes softly close.
Let's take three deep breaths together.
Ready?
Good.
Notice how warm and safe and comfortable you feel.
Keeping your eyes closed,
Allow your mind now to travel with the sound of my voice.
Beneath you,
Your bed has transformed.
You lie on your belly with your long arms dangling below you and your short legs gripping the stout limb you are lying on in your beautiful rainforest.
You decide to have a look around and you move your body so that you are hanging upside down from your strong limb.
Your three toes and three fingers clasp the branch securely and since your organs are attached to your ribcage,
Hanging upside down is super comfortable.
Fortunately,
You have an extra vertebrae in your neck that offers you the opportunity to see almost 360 degrees around you.
As you slowly move your head,
You look up into the emergent layer of the rainforest and you see the Sun peeking through the tops of the trees.
A few butterflies are fluttering around within view.
You can hear the songs of the birds and even the calls of a few small monkeys.
In the canopy layer of the rainforest where you are,
You share your trees with frogs and air plants,
Larger monkeys and snakes.
You see a friendly lizard climbing a nearby tree and watch his progression.
Oh,
He caught a bug!
Way to go,
Lizard!
As you look down,
You see a few brightly colored birds in the understory layer and though you can't see the forest floor since the sunlight barely reaches it through the dense foliage,
You can sense a jaguar pacing about.
Today feels like a nice day for a swim,
But you must wait for the jaguar to move on.
As you wait,
You slowly move through the trees to get closer to the water below.
You are so perfectly camouflaged by the blue-green algae growing on your light brown fur and you move so very slowly through the trees that you are nearly imperceptible.
You descend from the canopy and drop into the pool below.
You love to swim.
It is so soothing and you can move three times faster when you swim than you can on land or in the trees.
You can even hold your breath for about 40 minutes if you wish to submerge yourself to cool off.
You know that the jaguar is still about,
So you decide to paddle to the opposite side of the pool with each long stroke of your arms.
You feel more and more calm.
You start to feel a deep sense of relaxation come over you from the top of your furry head down the length of your face with its permanent smile,
Down your shoulders and into your back and chest,
Down to your subby tail and all the way into your short legs.
Your eyelids become heavy and you gently let them close.
Your breathing becomes soft and deep and effortless.
You are completely comfortable resting again on a strong limb of your rainforest.
You breathe in filling your lungs with fresh damp air.
The muscles in your body release and you feel fully supported by the limb beneath you.
You are completely relaxed and you let yourself drift off to sleep.
Good night little sloth.
