This is Day 1 (part 2) of my guided meditation series for complete beginners (and intermediates too). Today, we'll meditate for only one minute, focusing on the basic idea of staying present. Thanks for practicing, and see you tomorrow.

Okay,

So put yourself into a comfortable position.

You might be sitting on a chair,

On a cushion,

A sofa.

It doesn't really matter,

But you probably shouldn't lie down because that makes it a little too easy to fall asleep.

Other than that though,

You don't need any fancy postures,

You don't need to hold your hands a certain way,

You definitely don't need to do that full lotus posture that you've probably seen expert meditators do.

The most important thing is to sit in a way that feels comfortable to you.

Putting aside any chronic pain that you might experience in general,

Meditation itself should not feel especially physically uncomfortable.

It might feel a bit different or slightly uncomfortable,

But you should not be spending your whole meditation session worried about pain that you're feeling.

If that's the case,

I encourage you to find a different posture that will feel easier for you.

So just make yourself comfortable,

You might need to use pillows or cushions or whatever else,

And close your eyes.

So now we'll begin the one minute.

So as you close your eyes,

Just begin to notice what changes for you.

As soon as you close them,

Your experience of the present moment will change.

And that's all we're doing with meditation is noticing the reality of the present moment.

Exactly what's happening to us right here,

Right now.

So that's all you have to do for this minute.

Just observe with your mind's eye,

What is it like to be you right now?

And it's okay if thoughts are coming in,

Just notice those.

It's okay if you feel things in your body,

Just notice those sensations.

And that's it.

That's a minute.

You did it.

So you can just open your eyes when you're ready,

And I'll see you back here tomorrow.
