This is a fun mindful seeing practice. Mindful looking and noticing, using head-turning and eyes moving, has been shown to be calming on the nervous system. There are no background sounds. Teachers can listen to the Beginner Teacher Tips to set their students up for success.

In this exercise we will use our eyes to see all colors of the rainbow.

Begin by sitting comfortably.

You may know the first color of the rainbow is red.

Look around the room and find two things the color red.

Next is the color orange.

As you look around to find two things orange make sure to really turn your head and your neck.

Next is yellow.

What are two things in your room that you can find that are yellow?

Turn and look but keep your seat in your chair.

Now green.

Two things green.

See if you can keep your seat in your chair as you look around the room turning your head side to side or even looking up and down to find two things green.

Now blue.

Find two things that are blue turning and looking.

Next is indigo which is kind of bluish purple.

See if you can find two things indigo.

Lastly find two things that are purple.

Now bring your head and eyes back to center.

Notice how you feel.

Could you give that feeling a word?

Remember no feeling is better than another.

You are simply practicing paying attention to how you feel which is an act of kindness towards yourself.
