This guided meditation is designed to allow everything experienced to be a part of the practice. From the stance of pure awareness, we just sit, grasping at nothing, pushing nothing away. It is designed to open the meditator to the deep freedom that already lies within them.

Let's just sit,

Now,

And sit however you wish.

I don't want you to make any special effort for this practice.

You can close your eyes if you wish,

Or keep them open.

Maybe listen to this practice once with eyes closed,

And once again with eyes open to see how different the experience is.

Now just gaze from the centre of your being.

You can gaze with your eyes closed or open.

What I'm asking you to do is quite abstract.

Don't worry if you don't understand.

Just gaze,

And drop the need to understand what that might mean.

Drop the need to try to work anything out.

Just rest,

Suppress nothing.

If thinking wishes to,

Drop away,

Allow that to happen,

And drop the need to understand anything,

To do anything,

Or to try to work anything out.

Let thinking and working out just drop,

Drop it,

Drop the energy from your head down into your heart space,

The place you feel from,

And don't try to look for anything from here.

Just connect,

Awareness of what's here.

Just be here.

So simple.

Don't push anything away,

Believing it's not part of the meditation process,

And don't pull anything towards you,

Believing that it is meditation.

Just come to stillness,

Just be still,

Be quiet,

But don't suppress the noise.

The noises in your surroundings are part of this meditation.

Nothing can disturb you,

Because it's all included.

It's all part of life happening now.

Don't hold any particular importance to the words I'm saying.

Don't try to work anything out.

The spaces in between these words are far more important than the words I say.

The words point towards truth,

But the stillness and silence between the words are truth's home.

Let my words just be a backdrop.

You are the sky,

My words are the birds.

Just a living reminder,

Inviting you back home to inner peace,

To presence,

Rest in presence.

It's so perfect here,

Isn't it?

If you look without wanting,

Or without not wanting,

Can you connect to the inner refuge that is here now?

Can you connect to the inner refuge that is here now,

That is the very core of you?

Don't make problems,

Don't try to work anything out,

Just feel.

Peace,

It's already here,

Isn't it?

You may stray from this peace within,

But it's always here.

You leave it,

It never ever leaves you.

No technique needed.

If the breath shows up,

Fine,

Feel it show up.

If sounds come,

Let them.

Who is hearing the sound?

Can you listen to the listener?

Thoughts don't need to steal your peace.

If this happens,

Can you just watch that happen?

Can you watch it?

Watch thoughts unfold from a distance,

Like watching a storm,

From the warmth and safety of your own house.

Why would you walk out into it?

Why get soaked,

Unless you wanted to?

Who is watching?

Who is seeing all of this?

Is the watcher at peace?

Look closely,

Peace,

There's great love in peace,

It's the home of love and joy,

It's the home of perfection.

Don't force love or joy to arise,

Just rest back into your true home.

They will come when they are ready,

Just as sure as the sun will rise.

Can you see that you are already free?

You are already free,

And in your daily life.

See if you can contact this backdrop of peace,

Which is always here.

Know that it will never leave you,

How can it?

It's what you are,

It's yourself,

And you can fall back into it,

Into safety,

Security,

Love and peace,

At any moment.

This practice contains critical "practical instructions" about meditation and awareness ; not new to me but, as often happens, slightly different framing or wording is very helpful to reflect and give a deeper perspective. Highly recommended. Thank you Chris 🙏
