Details

A sloth is nature's reminder that not everything needs to be done at nervous-system-dysregulating speed. This one-day retreat isn't about doing less for the sake of it — it's about looking at how we move through life. The atmosphere will be calm, connected and playful, with no pressure to perform, achieve or share more than feels comfortable. If you've joined me for meditations or live sessions before, you'll recognise that same gentle spirit of deep rest, now shared together in person. A full day of no distractions or responsibilities to experience the wisdom of the sloth. Entering Sloth Space means softening the rush inside and getting curious about why it's there in the first place — finding a steadier rhythm within yourself. Set within Chester Zoo, rated the UK's best zoo, we'll spend the day among more than 30,000 adorable animals, using the natural world as a gentle mirror for our own inner landscapes. No previous meditation experience is required. If you're travelling from further away, know that the journey itself is part of the invitation — I'll be making a five-hour trip to a place I've never been, and there's something meaningful in stepping outside our usual routines to intentionally create space for ourselves. My hope is that this becomes more than a lovely day out — that the steadiness and self-compassion you practise here ripple into how you move through an ordinary Tuesday once you're home. This will be my first full-day, in-person retreat after nearly ten years of teaching. Kept intentionally small at 10 places, it's a founding group at the start of a new chapter — I'm genuinely excited to share this moment with you. Special $100 Founding Retreat price for the first Sloth Retreat. Future retreats are expected to be priced from $199. The Sloth Promise: I want you to book with complete peace of mind. Attend the full retreat — if by the end of the day you genuinely don't feel you've had a meaningful experience and learned valuable tools you can take into everyday life, simply let me know before you leave and I'll refund your ticket (minus the 10% Insight Timer fee).

A slothfully slow lunch is included — with a little more than leaves to keep you nourished throughout the day. While The Way of The Sloth is about mindfulness, grounding, and moving through life with more ease, it's also about enjoying life's little treats once in a while. Sloths mostly eat leaves (this makes them folivores) — however they also eat fruit to treat themselves! From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed with freshly brewed coffee, a selection of teas, fresh fruit juices, freshly baked Danish pastries, and a vibrant fresh fruit platter. All optional - as you like. During the morning, there will be another chance to pause and refresh with coffee, tea, and delicious treats. For lunch, we'll enjoy a relaxed finger buffet with a variety of hot food options, open sandwiches, crispy fries, and a selection of fresh, flavourful salads — giving us time to slow down, connect, and savour the day. In the afternoon, freshly brewed coffee and a selection of teas will be available to keep us refreshed as we ease into the rest of the retreat. Chester Zoo's catering team can usually accommodate common dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan/plant-based, gluten-free and allergies where possible. Please include any special dietary requirements when booking so I can coordinate with the venue.

Schedule

Protected by The Sloth Promise to allow you to book with peace of mind — see guarantee and cancellation terms. This retreat is designed to help you step out of inner urgency, understand your nervous system more clearly, and experience what it feels like to move through life without being pressured. You will leave with practical ways to return to a steadier, more grounded state once ordinary life begins again - even when the world around you has not slowed down. 10:30am – Slow Arrival Ease your way into our private group room and enjoy freshly brewed coffee, teas and glorious snacks—healthy or indulgent, you choose. There will be plenty of time to settle in, meet the group and begin dropping into the gentler rhythm of the day. May the sloth-vibes unfold! 11:00am – Entering Sloth Space We will begin with a warm welcome, a grounding meditation and an introduction to the Way of the Sloth. Together, we will explore how slowing down, listening to the body and moving with greater awareness can support us in navigating life with more ease—without needing everything around us to become quiet or uncomplicated first. We will then head into the zoo for a gentle silent wander, practising presence and noticing what changes when we stop trying to rush towards the next thing. 12:15pm – Branch Break and the Core Pillars Back in our private room, we will pause for drinks and snacks before exploring the core pillars of the day. These will include presence, nervous-system awareness, nature connection, parts work, self-compassion and conserving energy wisely - with some fascinating sloth facts woven in along the way. There will then be spacious time to explore the zoo individually or with others, allowing curiosity, your inner child and perhaps your inner sloth to guide you. 1:30pm – Slothfully Slow Lunch We will meet back in our private room for a relaxed finger-buffet lunch, including hot food, open sandwiches, crispy fries and fresh salads—all enjoyed from the comfort of our own private space. This is time to eat slowly, connect with the group and enjoy the nourishment of good food and wonderful company. 2:30pm – Nature as Teacher and Visiting the Sloth Habitat After lunch, we will return to the zoo for a longer period of mindful exploration. With more than 500 species around us, we will practise moving with intention, staying connected to the body and allowing the natural world to become a mirror for our own inner landscapes. During this time, we will visit the sloth habitat and spend a reflective moment connecting with the animals that inspired the retreat. Where possible, the timing will be informed by guidance from the venue team. Sightings and activity cannot be guaranteed, but perhaps the sloths will choose to join us for a little silent meditation. Having recently adopted a sloth at the zoo, we will also look out for the adoption plaque connected to our adopted sloth. 3:45pm – Final Branch Break and Integration We will slowly make our way back to our room, noticing what it feels like to move without urgency. Over tea and coffee, we will explore how to bring the Way of the Sloth into everyday life—not by doing everything at a sloth’s pace, but by finding a steadier pace within ourselves when life becomes busy, pressure builds or anxiety appears. We will look at how to recognise the moments when your nervous system is being pulled into urgency, and how small shifts in awareness, self-compassion and action can help you return to yourself. There will be space for reflection and sharing, with no pressure to contribute more than feels comfortable. 4:35pm – Closing Meditation and Takeaway Tools We will finish with a guided meditation and gather the insights from the day. You will leave with a clearer understanding of what pulls your nervous system into urgency, practical tools for returning to steadiness, and a more compassionate way of meeting anxiety, pressure and busy everyday life. The world may still move quickly - but you do not have to let its pace completely determine the pace within you. 5:00pm – Slothful Goodbyes The retreat will close gently, with space to say goodbye before we slowly make our way back into the world. This schedule is intentionally spacious and may be gently adjusted according to the needs of the group, venue timings and the best opportunity for a sloth sighting.

I have benefited daily from these pauses. I have managed to reduce mental chatter and find a stillness, providing me with a calmer, more focused state of mind.

Lucy, United Kingdom

The sessions evoke a kind of expansiveness in me that I find very enriching. I also feel very connected to the people participating in the sessions.

Anja, Germany

The meditations have become most valuable for me. They help ease my jaw and neck symptoms and are teaching me how to calm my nervous system in ways I didn’t know were possible.
