Namaste and thank you for joining me today.
We're going to explore a grounding meditation.
If you feel as though you are holding on to excess energy,
If you are feeling anxious,
If you are feeling overwhelmed,
Maybe you feel like you're holding on to energy that isn't yours or even energy that no longer serves you.
Take the next 10 minutes and allow yourself to come with me on a journey of connection.
A journey of grounding and exploration,
Allowing the energy to move,
To clear,
To reset,
To feel yourself ground and connect.
This meditation works best when your spine is long and upright.
Perhaps you'll find yourself standing or maybe in a tall seat.
If you prefer to be seated,
I encourage you to have your feet resting on the floor so that the energy can freely flow throughout the body.
Maybe even removing shoes or socks and letting ourselves feel that deep connection with the ground underneath of us through the soles of the feet,
Letting the palms rest gently on the legs.
Or should you choose to connect to the earth standing on the ground,
Feel the energy in the strong muscles of the legs and draw that energy up through the body.
Taking a big breath in,
Feel the breath as it moves in through the nostrils,
Moving up through the forehead,
Around the crown of the head and then washing over the body like a gentle wave.
Taking your next exhale to draw the upper lid down to meet the lower lid,
Noticing that space where the eyelashes come to touch without making any changes to the breath.
Bring the awareness into your natural rhythm.
Notice its tempo,
Notice its depth,
Feeling the chest expand as you breathe in,
Feeling the softening as you breathe out.
And as you attune to the breath,
Invite in relaxation through the body,
Focusing on effortlessly releasing tension that you're holding on to allow it to simply flow,
Moving out of the body with each breath.
Notice how everything is going on around you.
Allow what you hear to deepen your relaxation,
The sounds around you,
The thoughts swirling through your head,
Allow them to be a teacher,
Understanding that we cannot always guarantee complete silence.
We practice despite the noise.
We practice the art of allowing sounds and thoughts to pass by and to pass through without following them into their story.
Feeling mindful of your breath,
Noticing its movement,
Noticing the body's expansion and noticing the body's contraction.
Practice when the breath becomes rhythmic and effortless.
Allow my voice to carry you into a vision,
A vision of radiant light pouring from over your head.
Feeling it making its way down through the crown of the head,
Visualize the color,
Any color you choose.
Allow this light to feel warm and safe.
Imagine the light flowing into your body.
Feel it as it merges with the light already inside of you and feel a notion of completeness.
This light giving you the sensation of healing,
Balance.
Locate the light to grow,
See it expanding through every cell of the body building,
Growing stronger and fuller with every breath that you take.
Visualize it moving through the center channel of the body from the top of the head down to the base of the spine and all the way into the soles of your feet.
See the light as it expands outside of the body connecting your energy to everything around you,
The energy of the earth,
Of the animals,
The energy of the rocks,
The water,
The mountains,
The trees,
The sun.
This energy nourishes you and relaxes you,
It washes away negative thoughts,
Fears,
Doubts,
Stories from the mind and from the body.
This light builds energy where it is lacking and moves energy where there is excess.
Feel as this light reaches the base of the tailbone.
Feel your energy centers creating balance.
See the light moving through you clearly and effortlessly,
Gentle,
Powerful,
Nourishing.
As the light builds and moves down into the feet,
It moves through your soles and into the earth below.
Visualize your light growing down into the center of the earth like a system of tree roots moving and spreading deep and wide.
Feel the roots growing through the surface beneath your feet into the dark and rich soil of the earth.
Feel your roots penetrating into the center of the earth's core grounded,
Connected.
Feel how connected you are in this moment.
Feel and see the root system growing as deep and wide as you need to experience your most abundant connection to the earth.
Allow it to carry away the energy you're holding onto.
The energy that causes unease.
The energy of others.
The energy that brings pain,
Fear,
Sadness,
Shame.
You are deeply embedded,
Let it go.
Let it all go.
Continue releasing until you feel completely grounded,
Supported,
Held,
Nourished.
And when you are ready,
Begin to draw this renewed energy back into the body,
The energy that brings you balance.
Feel it moving up the root system,
Bringing it up slowly with each breath until it reaches the spine.
Drawing up peace,
Love,
Contentment,
Compassion,
Grace,
Forgiveness,
And anything else that you need in this breath.
Feel it moving freely through your body.
When you are ready,
Open the eyes gently and softly and gaze around the space where you are.
Noticing everything about the space,
Notice how you see the space.
See the space with renewed eyes,
Refreshed spirit.
Place a palm on the belly and a palm on the heart,
Taking a few long,
Deep inhales.
And encourage the exhales to continue to give way to space,
Space for all that is coming and space for all that you have released.
