In today's meditation we will use imagery that inspires your inner child to play and open yourself to the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter.
This is the Harry Potter sorting hat and favorite memories of Harry Potter meditation.
First we are going to start by letting go with lion's breath to get out any tension in the face and the mind.
Come into a comfortable seated position.
You can sit back on your heels or cross your legs.
Inhale deeply through your nose and open your eyes wide.
At the same time open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue bringing the tip down towards your chin.
Contract the muscles at the front of your throat as you exhale out through the mouth by making a long haaaaa sound.
You can turn your gaze to look at the space between your eyebrows or the tip of your nose.
Do this breath 2-3 times to yourself for the next few moments.
Feel free to find a new comfortable position for your body if that is calling you.
This sorting hat sorts based on characteristics we carry.
However it does take into consideration of what house we would want.
Even though it's in our nature to value patterns,
Comfort,
And society conditions us to put ourselves into various boxes.
However allow yourself to let go of those ideas and allow yourself to be sorted into a house or two that you feel embodies you today.
Because the truth is we are more than what meets the eye.
And also we carry characteristics of more than one house.
A house you may choose for today,
For another day you may choose a different house you embody that day.
Give yourself permission to be who you are even if that means characteristics that challenge your mind.
This is a safe circle to be whoever you want to be or even who you inspire to be even if you choose to be in between houses.
Remember it's all okay.
Nothing is right or wrong but thinking makes it seem so.
For the Gryffindor house they value bravery,
Fearlessness,
Courage,
Enticing mysteries,
And great honor.
Its symbolic animal is the lion.
For the Hufflepuff house they value hard work,
Dedication,
Patience,
Loyalty,
And fair play.
Its symbolic animal is the badger.
For the Ravenclaw house they value intelligence,
Knowledge,
Curiosity,
Creativity,
And enchanting wit.
Its symbolic animal is the eagle.
For the Slytherin house they value ambition,
Leadership,
Self-confidence,
Resourcefulness,
And magical arts.
Its symbolic animal is the snake.
Take a moment to choose a house that embodies you today.
Now let's come back to the breath.
Take a slow deep breath in for a count of five and let your breath out for a count of five.
Again,
Inhale slowly for a count of five,
Feeling the expansion of the belly.
And exhale slowly for a count of five,
Feeling the deflation of the belly.
Go ahead and inhale and exhale for a count of five a few times to yourself.
Now let your breath come to its natural rhythm.
Inhale slowly.
Really enjoy the comfort of your body relaxing deeper as you settle more into this moment.
Now,
Focus on the first happy place that comes into your mind in Hogwarts or somewhere else in the wizarding world you wish you could visit.
Maybe it coincides with the happiest image you associate with the Harry Potter books or movies.
Are you inside or outside?
Is the air warm or cool?
Is the noise level loud or quiet?
Are you surrounded by nature?
Most importantly,
How does this place make you feel?
Once you find your location,
The next step is to take your imagination even further.
Use your senses to interact with the place.
Do you smell anything?
Are there bright colors?
What is the weather like?
Why is this place significant to you?
For example,
You choose the Gryffindor common room because you are a Gryffindor and you've always loved the scenes that take place in this location.
Take a few more minutes to sit quietly in this place,
Really ravishing in Hogwarts or somewhere else in the wizarding world you wish you could visit as you relax more into this moment.

Remembering your breath.
If your mind wanders,
It's okay.
It's in the mind's nature to wander.
Maybe take a moment to tune into how you are feeling,
Or tune into the quality of thoughts you are having,
Even identifying them by labeling them.
Like are they worrisome?
Are they positive?
Are they random?
Are they productive?
Whatever they may be,
It is all okay.
Beyond dreaming,
Expand your talents.
Coming back to the place you have imagined and really enjoy it for these last few moments,
As you breathe.
Now,
Slowly drift back into reality,
Coming back to your physical body,
Maybe even waving goodbye to Hagrid at the train station as you carry your school trunk,
Exit back through the brick wall of Diagon Alley.
And when you are comfortable,
Open your eyes and bring this calm and magic to your everyday life.
