So great to be together and what a fantastic topic we have for our time together today.
For anyone who is new,
I welcome you in the grace of love.
I welcome each of you in the grace of love.
My name is Selena Layel.
I am a yoga and meditation instructor,

We have all of this air,
All of this fresh oxygen available to nourish us,

To keep this physical form alive.

Abundance,
Abundance of life,
The abundance of beauty that we express in ourselves,
With our physical bodies,
With how we dress,
How we nourish ourselves.
This is all abundance,
The abundance of life.
And we'll move into an affirmation practice.
Many of us are very familiar with affirmations.
Maybe you've practiced affirmations with me before,
Or other teachers who lead a similar practice.
Maybe affirmations are relatively new for you.
Wherever you are,
It's okay.
Affirmations are an incredible way to retrain not only the brain,
But the mind,
The mind.
Why would we choose to retrain the brain or the mind?
Why?
Because whatever training we've had,
Whether we think about that consciously or unconsciously,
Meaning much of what we learn,
What we believe,
What we think to be true,
Was shared from someone else.
We learned it from our parents,
Our peers,
From our textbooks,
From schooling.
And many of this information is outdated,
Incorrect,
Inaccurate altogether.
We learn things like money doesn't grow on trees.
You have to work hard to live an abundant life.
You'll lose friends if you have money.
If you're spiritual,
People will judge you and think you're part of a cult.
If you believe in yourself,
People will think you're arrogant.
You kind of get where this is going.
We have all of these beliefs and all of these ways of thinking that have been trained,
Entrained in the mind and in the brain,
And they do not service.
They may have at one point or another.
But do you really think at this point,
It's not about thinking actually,
It's about choice.
As the conscious creator that you are,
Part of consciousness is awakening,
Awareness.
So if in this moment you realize that you are living with the belief that said,
It's really difficult to have any kind of financial security,
If you realize that you have that kind of belief or entrainment,
Training,
Would you choose to continue having that belief?
I'm not asking you if you think it's true or not.
I'm asking you if you would wish to continue to hold the belief that it's really difficult to have financial security,
Abundance,
Or even comfort,
Would you choose to hold onto that?

Or else everyone really wants to hold onto their beliefs.

Great to be with you.

I'm seeing some no's.
Okay.
Right.
If I realize,
If I am aware that I am holding these limiting beliefs,
Wouldn't I rather choose something different?
Probably.
I just realized that my computer is not charging.
Give me one moment.
I'm going to make sure it's plugged in.
So just consider this.
Let us just consider this for a moment.
This training that we have with so many different kinds of beliefs in our lives,
So many relationships are difficult.
If you love someone,
They're going to hurt you.
If you love someone,
They're going to leave you.
Yes,
We have all of this kind of training in the mind.
So affirmations are a powerful way to retrain,
To retrain.
However,
What's most important,
Possibly even beyond the thought itself,
When you think or speak an affirmation,
You must connect it with a strong emotional experience.
Strong emotional experiences create new neural pathways in the brain,
And strong emotional experiences are what get noticed by and anchored in the subconscious mind.
Meaning if I sit here,
Let's say that I have an affirmation.
Let's say that I really would like to be rich,
Have a lot of money,
And I sit here and I say,
I'm rich.
I have all the money I need.
I'm really rich.
I'm so rich.
I'm rich.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It'd be great to be rich.
I have no emotion to anchor this in my subconscious mind.
Now here's an interesting thing.
Here's an interesting thing.
Sometimes we speak in affirmation,
But the energy,
The emotion is in conflict with the affirmation.
And so rather than the subconscious mind receiving,
I am rich.
Maybe I say it loudly,
But inside I'm feeling a deep fear as I repeat it.
That fear is what is activated in the subconscious mind.
And that's okay.
That's okay.
Let's just take a breath.
Sometimes we get so hard on ourselves.
Yes.
Oh,
I'm doing something wrong.
I should have done something differently.
It's okay.
We're all learning.
I had a funny moment earlier today with my mom where we were speaking about spiritual evolution and spiritual teachings.
And I just laughed out loud.
Just becoming aware of how many times I've thought,
Oh great,
I have this new practice.
I can just do it a couple of times and then I'll,
I'll be more evolved.
And then those same practices have come back into my life again and again and again over decades.
Meaning that,
That this is a path that we are in.
We are in this path.
We are in this journey of awakening,
Of evolution,
Of freedom,
Of claiming what we wish for our lives.
It doesn't just happen quick fix the way we'd like it to.
It's repetition.
It's training the subconscious mind.
It's training the brain,
The body,
The emotions.
And of course,
When we speak of training,
Whether you think about an athlete or a musician or anyone who wishes to study something in depth,
It takes repetition.
It takes a dedication to that thing to awaken to its mastery,
To become a master of it.
So coming back to the subconscious mind,
Emotion,
Emotion,
Emotion,
Emotion.
We must feel that quality of emotion that is related to the affirmation for it to anchor in the subconscious mind.
We must feel that good quality of emotion with the affirmation to create a new neural pathway in the brain.
And this is also just training our energetic bodies,
Training us to open,
To be receptive.
And the last thing I'll say for now on this,
I'm seeing some of your comments come in.
Yes,
Consistency,
Consistency.
It's not for a while.
It's a lifestyle.
I like that little rhyme there.
Yes,
Yes,
Yes.
So it is the repetition.
It is calling upon,
Conjuring the emotion that is an expression of the affirmation,
Retraining the brain,
The subconscious mind.
And the more that we live with this,
Repeat this daily,
The brain will literally seek out that which we are putting our attention on.
Meaning,
And I think we actually spoke of this in our last session on Monday,
And we've spoken of it many times before.
You don't need to know all of the steps to fulfill the expression of the affirmation,
The abundance,
The joy,
The health,
The dreams coming true.
You don't need to intellectually know every step to create it in your life.
When you start to train the subconscious mind and train the brain through this type of repetition,
The brain and the subconscious mind literally seek out pathways to bring that to you.
It is something you may not even be aware of,
Yet it will literally create pathways in your life to bring that to you,
To bring you to it,
Towards it.
It's fantastic,
And it's fascinating,
And it's awesome,
Because it means if we choose to be committed to ourselves,
To be open,
To have consistency towards that which we're wanting,
We can actually create it.
What usually happens though is what,
My friends?
We get really excited about something,
Really inspired about something,
And what happens?
Maybe we're really down for like a week,
Or maybe even a few weeks.
We're really good at thinking that affirmation,
Or journaling,
Or visualizing,
Or speaking what we're grateful for,
And then we stop.
Then we stop.
We get lazy,
We get distracted,
We get defeated.
It's not happening fast enough for that part of us that is addicted to instant gratification,
And so we give up.
Again,
There's nothing to judge ourselves for.
This isn't like,
Oh,
Bad you,
You gave up.
Do you know how many times,
How many times I have stopped something because it was too much effort?
So many times,
And I've learned from it.
I've learned that I don't experience what I'm wanting when I constantly give up because I feel defeated,
Or afraid,
Or I don't know what to do,
Or I feel like I don't know what to do,
I feel lost.
It's okay.
Right now,
In this moment,
We have a choice.
We have a choice to experience the power of the creators that we are.
And you don't need to feel totally joyful or happy to take a step towards that which you are wanting.
You don't need to feel free of fear.
This is what many of us think,
Well,
If I'm feeling fear,
I can't have what I want.
If I feel fear,
Then something's wrong and I have to wait till the fear goes away.
No,
Just take actions.
Just take actions.
Sometimes you can feel fear and then you can conjure up that emotion of abundance of any of its many forms.
And for a moment,
You don't feel that fear.
You're focusing on that other energy.
And then maybe the fear comes back.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Just keep training yourself to come back,
To come back.
Elise is asking,
How do I call on the emotion that is an expression of the affirmation?
Great question.
We're going to work with that a little bit today in our practice,
Which we're going to move into shortly.
One way that we can start to conjure up emotion when we're not feeling it is to remember a time in our lives or even just imagine something that brings that emotion to life.
So for example,
Let's say today that I'm feeling really heavy,
Really heavy.
However,
The affirmation that I'm saying is I am joy.
And sometimes,
Sometimes if you just open your arms or you jump up and down,
If you do something different with your physiology,
With your body,
With the patterns you're holding in your body,
Sometimes that alone can shift the emotional pattern that we're inside of.
And if you are still feeling that emotion kind of sticky,
Sticking there,
Or maybe you're just not really sure how to shift,
Visualize or remember a time in your life when you felt joy.
And I'm using the example of joy now because I was just saying if my affirmation is I am joy.
When is a time in my life that is only colored by joy in my memory and remember it in detail?
All right.
I was at that place and nature and dancing and with all of these people that I love and I felt so free.
The more that I remember all of the details and remember how I was feeling in that moment,
It wakes it up inside of me.
My brain is releasing those good feeling chemicals into the body.
I'm activating the energy of joy within me just from remembering.
Maybe it's not a memory.
Maybe you use your imagination to think of something that just lights you up.
Maybe it's a vision of sitting in nature that makes you feel so peaceful.
Or maybe you see what you would do if you had all of the financial abundance that you're wanting.
Where would you go?
What would you be doing?
How free would you feel?
Use the power of your mind.
We have all of these different mental faculties.
We don't just have one mind.
We have all of these different faculties.
Our mind is like a diamond and there are these different facets that we can harness to awaken this aliveness,
This empowerment and this fullness of living the life that we are wanting to live.
Such juicy stuff.
Probably didn't think we were going to have a 20 minute talk on manifestation.
It's great.
It's great because it's all part of it.
We could go into an affirmation practice and let's get real.
Let's start to understand how to use these affirmations to really create the life experience that we're wanting.
Yes.
New moon vibes.
Powerful time to be calling in new intentions,
Saying yes to yourself.
Yes to life.
Yes to something new.
So good.
So good.
Are you ready?
Ready to have an experience together?
So we're going to move into our practice now and I invite you,
As you hear each affirmation,
I'm going to give a little more space between the affirmations.
Repeat it silently in your mind or even repeat it out loud.
Conjure up the emotion.
You could even say fake it until you make it.
If you know that expression,
Pretend that you're feeling that good emotion that goes with that affirmation abundance,
That abundance affirmation.
Yes.
Realize in your mind,
Your imagination,
Your memory.
And if it's something in your future,
Maybe a future memory,
We say sometimes,
Maybe if the affirmation says,
I am free to do whatever I wish because of the abundance in my life,
Then imagine that.
What would you do if you had the freedom financially to do whatever you wish?
What would you do if you lived in the fullness of love,
The abundance of love in your life?
How would you express yourself?
So much of life is not about receiving,
It's about giving.
So how would you express this abundance?
Seed in your mind,
Your thoughts,
Your heart,
And let us close the eyes.
This music that we're listening to today,
It's called brain massage.
It's designed to create this receptivity and this deep relaxation in the brain.
Listen.
Feel the brain relaxing in the skull.
Feel the scalp softening,
Relaxing.
The muscles of the face soften.
Allow space between the teeth and the lips so the jaw and the throat soften and open.
Feel the shoulders relaxing down.
The rise and fall of the chest with each breath and your beautiful physical heart relaxing in the chest.
The arms,
Hands,
Fingers,
And thumbs let go.
Tension just melting.
The back,
The hips and glutes soften down into the support beneath you.
The brain being massaged with each and every breath.
The legs all the way down to the soles of the feet and the tips of the toes.
Relax,
Let go.
Feel your beautiful brain becoming more receptive and your minds,
Your minds opening.
The minds,
The brain being washed.
Take a deep breath in and out and feel as you exhale that there is this sense of letting go.
I am releasing.
I let go of that which no longer serves.
I release my attachment to thoughts and beliefs that no longer support my life.
With each breath,
I let go to make space for something new,
For something beautiful,
For something abundant.
Continue to feel the brain softening and becoming receptive and your beautiful subconscious mind opening to the power of your suggestion,
The power of your intention and your thoughts as we move into our affirmations.
Great wealth is flowing to me now.
Great wealth is flowing to me now and activate that emotion,
Activate the subconscious.
I am creating my wonderful,
Ideal life.

This overflowing well of love,

What abundance are you enriched with right now in this moment?
What abundance are you enriched with from your own being in this moment from inside?

It may feel difficult.
You may notice all of the doubtful thoughts and beliefs.
It's okay.
They are what is known.
They are what we have been giving our attention and our energy and time to for years,
For decades.
It's okay.
As I was speaking to at the beginning,
Before we moved into our practice,
Why do we not see results so often?
Because we give up.
We feel,
Oh,
Defeated or like something can't happen or we're doing something wrong or there's something wrong with us.
And we fall back into those old beliefs,
Those old patterns.
Stick with it,
My loves.
If you wish something in your life,
Be committed to yourself,
Be committed to that what you're wanting.
If it's a relationship or more money or feeling a certain way,
Use your mind,
The power of your beautiful mind to welcome it into your life.
We're not going to change these old habits in the mind and the emotions in the body overnight.
It's going to take some time and it's going to take some commitment and going beyond the need for instant gratification.
And I promise you,
If you stay committed to yourself,
If you stay committed to repetition on a daily basis of focusing on that what you are wanting,
Of activating the feeling of it and feeding,
Feeding the passion,
The aliveness,
The desire for that what you are wanting.
It is the desire that moves us towards it,
Moves us toward it,
Moves it towards us.
So as you connect with that desire,
You will see your life shift.
It may not look exactly as you are envisioning it.
You will see shifts and transformations in your life when you stay committed in this way.

So what affirmation,

Let's say that for the next 30 days,
We choose an affirmation to focus on every day.

And I invite you to set an alarm on your phone that has this affirmation pop up so you're reminded of it maybe every hour,
At least a few times a day,

Come back to this each day for 30 days and see what happens in your life.
All throughout the day,
Start to train your brain.
Your brain is so powerful.
I've trained my brain now.
Many years ago,
A couple of decades ago,
I started to train my brain and my mind to think of grateful thoughts when I woke in the morning.
And I trained myself slowly,
Slowly.
I'd wake up in the morning and I would think of a grateful thought.
Now,
After all of these years of training the mind to focus on gratitude,
I think about things that I'm grateful for all throughout the day.
All throughout the day.
I thought of gratitude here,
I thought of gratitude there.
Even when I feel really crummy,
Maybe my body doesn't feel good or my mind and my emotions are all stirred up,
I still think of thoughts of gratitude because I have trained the mind and that pathway in the brain is strong.
You can do this.
You can train yourself to not only think a thought,
But draw toward you that which you're wanting.
So for anyone who'd like to play with this,
Whether you take it on for 30 days or you just like to think of an affirmation,
What is an affirmation?

It doesn't mean it's true.

You don't need to believe what you've been believing for the last 20,

60,
70 years.
You don't need to believe that.
Again,
I'm not saying it's going to be easy,
But it's not necessarily true just because we believe it.

And he speaks again and again about how it's all an energetic exchange.
