Sangjae Lee is a practitioner of silent sitting meditation in his mid-50s whose path began in 1993. He currently maintains a daily silent sitting practice of about 100 minutes in a single continuous period, and a steady daily Qigong practice that supports the movement element of his sessions. He offers two main formats. The first is a 40-minute movement + sitting session: roughly 30 minutes of simple Qigong-based standing movements to loosen the joints, awaken the breath, and calm the nervous system, followed by about 10 minutes of quiet seated meditation with light spoken guidance and no music. The second is a 100-minute silent sitting session. After a brief orientation, the group rests together in silence while he remains seated in stillness for the full period. Participants are welcome to stay for the whole time or only for the portion that feels appropriate for their body and circumstances. In all sessions, you are free to join and leave as needed, to rest in the shared silence, follow the gentle guidance, or continue with your own familiar method. His path over more than three decades has been shaped by a non-forcing, presence-based approach; he trusts that the most meaningful teaching is found not in words but in quietly sharing a steady, unwavering presence.
