Welcome back to Expand Your Senses with Plant Music.
Spider Plant and I,
Tigre La Gardenia,
Invite you to once again find a plant of your choosing to work with you during this journey.
And make sure you have writing and coloring materials close to capture what comes to you at the end.
A quick reminder that ki,
Kin are our preferred pronouns for plant people.
Ki is singular and kin is plural.
During this practice we will connect with plant touch.
Plants are sessile,
Which means kin are rooted in place and as such unable to travel large distances.
Therefore kin have developed many ways to understand the world around using at least 20 senses including the sense of touch.
To begin this journey sit comfortably and slowly with your eyes closed.
Shift your focus to the music of Spider Plant.
Start to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,
Deep and slow.
By breathing in you bring in new energy and when you breathe out you let go of what may keep you from being fully present here and now.
Now bring attention to every single part of your physical body.
Keep breathing deep and slow and adjust what you need to relax your body from head to toe.
Now release your breathing,
Let it go back to its natural rhythm,
Breathing in and out through your nose.
I invite you to connect with your center,
Wherever you feel that is in your body.
Breathe in your center and from this place of stillness ask the plant you chose or that chose you to guide you through the understanding of how Ki experiences and feels touch.
You open yourself to this connection and you notice the plant taking you directly to Ki's roots.
You realize Ki would like you to explore underground touch together.
How does it feel,
The texture of the earth?
Follow the little root hairs.
You start feeling something different and you notice it's the mycorrhiza,
The fungi connecting with the roots.
How does it feel when a thread connects to a root?
Your attention goes up and you sense little insects walking over Ki's exposed roots,
The very base coming up.
You keep going up and out,
You're now at the bark or the stem of the plant,
Ants,
Spiders,
Caterpillars,
More insects crawling all over.
A little more and you reach leaves,
They're swaying in the wind.
Take your time to feel the air touching every part of the plant.
Are there branches or stems that go out?
If there are flowers,
Also feel the touch of flowers and the fruit if there are any.
Is it hot?
Is it cold?
Now let the plant share with you how Ki perceives and reacts to all these touch stimuli.
Maybe Ki changes growth patterns.
Does the flow of nutrients change such as water or nitrogen based on touch?
Simply nurture the silence within so you can receive this information.
Begin to consciously bring your focus back to your breath.
Take a deep and slow breath.
Allow yourself to integrate this experience.
Allow any messages to be absorbed so you can recall them later.
Before you go,
Still with your eyes closed,
Send your gratitude to the plant who has worked with you this time so openly and generously.
Take your time receiving any last messages the plant wants to share.
When you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Take paper and pen and capture everything that has come to you during this practice.
Let it flow from you directly to the paper with no filter.
You'll have the chance to analyze it later with the help of your true nature who can help you interpret the plant languages used.
Thank you for your presence and we'll meet again soon for the third part of the Expand Your Senses with Plant Music series.
Next up,
Plant Taste.
