Welcome to this evening wind-down meditation for nervous system regulation.
Wherever you are,
Lying down or seated,
Just find yourself settling into the surface beneath you.
Let your hands rest softly,
And gently close your eyes.
Take a long,
Slow breath in through your nose,
And exhale through your mouth with a big sigh.
Again,
Inhale deeply,
Filling your lungs,
And exhale fully,
Letting everything go.
One more time,
Big deep breath in through your nose,
Allow yourself to arrive in this moment.
There is nothing to fix,
Nothing to plan,
Nothing to do,
You have done enough for the day,
And now this is your time to come home to yourself.
Bring your awareness to your physical body,
Feel the support beneath you,
The texture of your clothing,
The temperature of the air on your skin,
Allow your shoulders to drop,
Your jaw to unclench,
The space between your eyes to relax.
With each breath out,
Let your body melt a little more,
Allow gravity to hold you.
Gently place one hand on your heart,
And one on your lower belly.
Feel the rhythm of your breath beneath your palms,
Feel the warmth of your own touch,
Steady and kind,
No pressure,
No expectation,
Just soft and gentle.
As you breathe slowly,
You are signalling to your nervous system that it is safe to relax,
That the day is done,
That you are allowed to soften,
To release,
To restore,
To relax.
Imagine a soft wave of calming light gently sweeping over you,
From the crown of your head,
Down your face,
Your chest and shoulders and arms,
Feel it cleanse away the day,
Soothing you and wrapping you,
Allow yourself to rest in this beautiful,
Peaceful stillness.
Allow yourself to be held by something greater,
By your breath,
By the earth,
By the sacred rhythm of life.
Take one last big deep breath in and exhale with a sigh.
When you feel ready,
Just slowly bring your awareness back,
Stay where you are.
Take care my friend,
And I look forward to working with you again soon.
