So you've noticed yourself having a thought about work on your day off or just some time outside of work.

And it's not just a fleeting thought,

Rather,

It's one that persists,

And before you realize it,

You've been sucked into its drama and its emotional charge.

Now,

No judgment,

We've all been there,

But I do have some good news for you.

We can all practice a different way forward.

So here's the technique.

Find a tall spine,

Seated or standing,

And close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in and let it go,

And arrive in this moment.

Settle into right now.

Now visualize the thought as a little gray blob in front of you.

Maybe eye level,

But at least an arm's length away from you.

You're going to say,

Hello there,

Thought about work.

I notice you want my attention.

Well,

Right now,

That's not useful to me.

I'm grateful that you're interested in me.

I'm appreciative that you want to draw my attention to something important that I do want to resolve in some manner,

But right now,

No,

Honey,

You're not being helpful to me.

So here's what we're going to do.

I'm picturing a lovely clear bubble around you,

And you float gently around inside of it,

And I visualize a beautiful golden light pouring into the top of the bubble.

It soaks you in sparkles,

And soon the whole bubble is filled with gold.

I can't even see you anymore,

But I know you're lovingly suspended in that peaceful light.

I'll call you back when I'm ready to intentionally engage with you.

In the meantime,

It's with gratitude and kindness that I send you on your way.

I watch you drift effortlessly off into the stars,

And I request that the divine universe guide your way.

If you come back,

Just know that I'll simply say,

Hello thought,

I'm grateful for your interest.

Here's your golden bubble.

Back to the stars you go.

Now take a deep breath in,

And a deep breath out,

Flutter your eyes open,

And return to your day knowing you can repeat this as many times as it takes.
