Hello there friends,
Thank you so much for joining me here.
This is a future self-meditation that is inspired by Tara Brach and her book Radical Compassion.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable seated posture,
Taking a position that we can hold without forcing or strain for about 10 minutes.
And once you're there let's just take a few long and deep breaths to help calm the body and to bring us into contact with the present moment,
Seeing if there are any places in your body where you're holding tension or strain and seeing if you can consciously relax those places.
And now I'd like you to bring to mind a situation in your life that elicits a difficult emotion,
Some kind of conflict or turmoil.
This could be related to a situation at work or some kind of tension that you have between a friend or family member or maybe you're navigating the loss of a loved one,
A breakup or separation or perhaps someone that you know has passed on.
It could be something that stirs up irritation and frustration,
Anger or fear or sadness.
Now imagine that it is 10 or 20 years from now and you are standing outside the home of your future self.
Where is this home?
What does it look like?
Imagine both its surroundings and its features as if you're standing out front.
And if you're not much of a visual person,
Simply do your best.
Now walk up to the front door and go inside.
Once inside,
Follow your intuition to where your future self might be inside this home.
What room are they in?
Go there now.
And once you've reached this place,
Look around the room.
What does the room look like?
Are there any objects,
Furniture,
Mementos or plants present?
Imagine your surroundings here with as much detail as possible.
Now turn your attention to your wise,
Mature,
Evolved future self who is slowly approaching you now.
What do they look like?
What are they wearing?
Look at the expression on their face.
Perhaps they're smiling at you.
Can you sense that they care for you more than anyone you've ever encountered?
Look into the eyes of your future self and say hello to them.
Now bring to mind again the situation in your current life that is causing you turmoil or difficulty and share it with your future self.
The idea of it alone will do,
Because you and your future self are connected beyond words.
Now in light of the situation you've just shared with them,
Feel their healing attention and care embracing you now.
They may be sharing words of care and reassurance,
Encouraging you,
Comforting you.
Perhaps you can feel the energy of their care and wisdom enfolding you,
Supporting you,
Guiding you.
This future self has already lived and grown through the things you now face.
Your future self can gracefully hold all of the turmoil you now face.
There is no limit to their care and love for you.
Allow all parts of yourself to be embraced by your future highest self until you and they merge completely and there is no separation.
Feel how this future self lives inside you now and can be accessed at any time in any circumstance.
An intimate indivisible part of you that wants nothing but the best for your heart and soul in service to your highest calling and evolution in this life.
Your best friend is you and you can call on this awakened self at all times.
Returning slowly to our present surroundings now,
The room that we are in,
Taking some nice deep breaths,
Becoming reacquainted with our bodies and physical form.
