Hello and welcome to this meditation.
Please find a comfortable position and we'll get started.
You can start by gently closing your eyes if that feels comfortable or you can keep them open and just soften your gaze.
This is a very simple effortless meditation just as all meditation can be.
Allowing yourself to arrive here.
Dropping any orientation towards the past.
Thoughts of what happened yesterday or earlier today.
Dropping any orientation towards the future as well and what might come after this meditation.
The past has passed.
The future has not yet arrived and is merely a projection.
This very moment is the only one in which we exist right now.
The only one that is in fact real.
Now the only instruction here in this meditation is to stop.
Stop attempting to control,
Change or manipulate your experience in any way.
Consciousness is happening all on its own without any interference on our part.
So just stop.
Our senses are functioning effortlessly.
Sounds are heard.
Feelings are felt.
Tastes are tasted.
Sights are seen.
Smells perhaps are smelled.
Thoughts are thought.
This is what consciousness does naturally.
All of it spontaneously arising in awareness.
Rest in this effortless awareness.
Sensations will arise and pass away on their own.
No effort is required to be aware of them nor is effort required to help them pass away.
All things coming and going in this effortless awareness.
Thoughts will arise as they do because thinking is what thought does.
Just as you didn't choose the words and sounds you are hearing now,
So too did you not choose which thoughts will arise in awareness.
You are that which is aware of the thoughts,
Not the thoughts themselves.
Simply rest in this space of awareness.
Consciousness happening all on its own.
There is no effort required here whatsoever.
Just rest.
Thoughts and sensations coming and going.
You are that which is aware of them.
And when you're ready you can start to slowly open your eyes if you've had them closed and become slowly reacquainted with the world around you.
