I used to believe I didn’t care; it turns out I was repressing emotions out of fear of overwhelm. A survival response that is still present. The body keeps the score and we get stuck in fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and fantasy. Repeating what we did to survive, even when it is no longer appropriate. I follow a three-step paradigm to healing, one I encourage you to embrace: awareness, acceptance, action. Become aware of your own responses, accept them (and their causes), and take action to heal.
