Welcome to your sleep sanctuary.
I'm so glad you're here.
This evening,
You are invited to meet yourself just as you are.
No pressure.
No fixing.
Just a soft arrival into the truth of this moment,
Just as it is.
So I'll invite you to get as comfortable as possible,
Fluffing your nest,
While I tell you a little about what is in store for us tonight.
When you give yourself permission to rest without conditions or resistance,
Your nervous system responds.
The body begins to shift into the parasympathetic state,
Also called the rest and restore mode.
This is where healing,
Regulation,
And deep sleep become possible.
When you soften into your body,
You create space for self-compassion to rise,
For the mind to slow down,
And for the accumulated tension of the day to begin to release.
This is not just a moment of stillness.
It's a gentle act of realignment,
Of returning to a natural rhythm,
Of remembering that you don't have to earn your rest.
Let's begin with three soft belly breaths to ground into the body.
If you'd like,
You can place one hand gently on your lower abdomen,
And take a slow,
Easy breath in through the nose,
Feeling the belly rise into your hand,
And exhaling softly through the mouth,
Letting the belly fall,
Again inhaling,
Expanding through the belly,
And exhale,
Releasing all effort.
One more time,
Full,
Slow inhale,
Gentle,
Open exhale,
Allowing your hand to return to rest.
Feeling your breath settle into its own natural rhythm.
Feeling the body already beginning to unwind.
There is nothing you need to change about how you feel right now.
Tired,
Alert,
Heavy,
Restless.
Whatever is present is welcome.
This meditation is simply an invitation to meet yourself gently,
Kindly,
As you are.
So let's begin a slow journey through the body.
Not to fix or force anything,
But to notice,
To soften,
To return home to sensation.
Beginning at the crown of the head,
Noticing any sensations,
Tingling,
Warmth,
Or quiet stillness.
Allowing your scalp to soften,
And gently moving your awareness down to your forehead,
Allowing the space to soften between your eyebrows.
Feeling your eyelids as heavy and warm.
Noticing your cheeks,
Your mouth,
And your jaw.
Allowing the tongue to rest in the bottom of your mouth.
Allowing the teeth to unclench,
And the jaw to slacken.
And now to the back of the head,
The ears,
Feeling how the pillow or surface supports you,
Allowing the neck to be free of holding,
Bringing attention to your shoulders,
Noticing if they're lifted or tense,
Inviting them to drop gently downward.
No force,
Just an invitation.
And feeling the sensation traveling down through your upper arms,
Elbows,
Forearms,
All the way into the hands,
And each one of your fingertips,
Fingernails,
Space between the fingers,
Allowing the arms to be heavy,
Letting the hands soften open,
And bringing awareness into the chest.
Noticing the subtle rise and fall of the breath,
Allowing the heart space to widen,
Allowing it to soften,
No need to hold anything here.
Now noticing the upper back,
The mid-back,
The lower back,
Feeling the spine resting into the surface beneath you,
Allowing the muscles to melt with gravity.
Bringing your awareness now to the abdomen,
Feeling the breath move through the belly.
This is your center,
Allowing it to be soft and unguarded.
Now to the pelvis and hips,
Feeling these bones settle,
Allowing the weight of your body to be fully held,
And shifting awareness to your thighs,
Hips,
Through the knees,
Down to the shins and calves,
Allowing them to feel warm and heavy,
Like sandbags sinking into the bed.
And finally,
The ankles and toes.
Each toenail,
Space between the toes,
Noticing any last places of holding,
Letting go,
Let them rest.
Now holding the whole body in your awareness,
Head to toe,
Soft,
Present,
Whole.
There is nothing to push away,
No need to be more energized or more still.
You are exactly where you need to be.
Let's repeat softly in the mind.
It's okay to feel what I feel.
I give myself permission to be as I am.
This moment is enough.
Now let's allow the body to soften even deeper.
With a warm wave of relaxation flowing gently from crown to toes,
Imagining this wave as warm water or golden light,
Washing through you slowly,
Melting what's tight and soothing what's tired,
Feeling the message carried in this wave.
You don't have to be anywhere else.
You don't have to be anyone else.
This is enough.
The waves flow from the top of your head,
Down through your face and throat,
Over the shoulders,
Through the arms,
Into the hands,
Across the chest,
The belly,
Down through the hips,
And into the feet.
And from this place,
Allow these words to wash over you.
I am allowed to be exactly as I am.
I don't need to earn this rest.
I am human.
I am safe.
I am enough.
The world can wait.
Stillness is welcome here.
My body knows what it needs.
I honor what I feel.
I soften.
I surrender.
I rest.
Allowing your breath now to become a quiet rhythm,
A lullaby moving in and out of your chest.
With each inhale,
Warmth gathers at the heart.
With each exhale,
It flows gently outward.
Let's begin a gentle backward count.
Each number carries you lower.
Softer.
Deeper into ease.
Inhaling,
Warmth gathers in the chest.
Exhale,
It flows through you.
Ten.
Inhale,
Lower.
Let the body grow heavy.
Exhale,
Feel yourself sinking.
Nine.
Breathing like a tide.
Eight.
No more effort.
Seven.
Each breath softens you further.
Six.
Letting go of the day.
Nothing to figure out.
Four.
The body knows what to do.
Three.
Safe.
Still.
Surrendered.
Two.
Held by the breath.
One.
Two.
Welcomed with open arms into the land of sleep and dreams.
Gently and gradually melting into the web of life.
As the music continues to lull you into your sleep sanctuary.
