Good morning my beautiful community,
It's me,
Anna Marie,
From Heavenly Healing.
It's Tuesday,
So it's time for Teach Me Tuesday.
Today we are going to be talking about the magic of Surya Namaskar and Seasonal Change.
This past Sunday I had the most transformative experience as I greeted the door at 5.
30am with 108 Surya Namaskars in honor of the Epilogues.
Each movement that I did felt like a conversation with the universe,
Literally.
A dialogue between the earth,
The sun,
And my inner being.
The energy,
The stillness,
And the sheer connection with nature were absolutely awe-inspiring.
I was lucky because I was looking out onto the bullfrog pan.
That beautiful 5.
30 experience with a bunch of yogis has left me humbled and profoundly grateful.
It has also inspired me to delve deeper into the meaning of the sacred practice and share its significance with you all today.
So let's explore the ancient ritual of Surya Namaskar,
Its incredible benefits,
And why it holds special importance during seasonal transitions such as equinox.
What is Surya Namaskar?
Surya Namaskar,
Or Sun Sanitations,
As you guys probably know it,
Is much,
Much more than just a series of yoga poses.
It is a rhythmic flow of gratitude,
Devotion,
And reverence to the sun,
The ultimate source of life on earth.
Traditionally,
It consists of 12 poses,
Each corresponding to the 12 hours of daylight and also to the 12 zodiac signs.
I must be honest,
I did not know that.
Every movement in Surya Namaskar is synchronized with intentional breathing,
Creating harmony between body,
Mind,
And spirit.
It is not just a physical exercise,
It is a form of meditation in motion,
Allowing us to connect deeply with ourselves and the life-giving energy of the sun.
What are the benefits of Surya Namaskar?
This ritual has countless benefits that span physical,
Mental,
As well as spiritual dimensions.
Physically,
It enhances flexibility,
Strengthens muscles,
Improves cardiovascular health,
And it even boosts your digestion.
On a mental level,
It reduces stress and anxiety,
Cultivates mindfulness,
And sharpens focus.
For me,
That is probably the reason why I do yoga at all.
Not for the physical benefits,
But more for the mental and emotional benefits.
Spiritually,
Surya Namaskar energizes the body,
Balances the chakras,
And deepens our connection to the rhythm of the cosmos.
For those of you who might be looking for a powerful way to honor and harmonize your inner and your outer worlds,
Surya Namaskar is truly,
Truly transformative.
Why do we do it at Seasonal Change,
You might ask?
Why is it so meaningful during seasonal transitions like equinox?
These moments mark the delicate balance between light and darkness,
Between day and night.
Practicing this ritual during each such time helps us align ourselves with nature's cycles,
Fostering a beautiful equilibrium in our own lives.
Additionally,
The act of performing 108 sun salutations is deeply symbolic.
In Vedic tradition,
108,
Or the number 108,
Represents the wholeness of existence,
Connecting us to the universe,
The self,
And the collective consciousness.
It's a way of tuning into the profound shifts happening within and around us.
I'm encouraging all of you now to try this practice.
Embrace it.
Whether it's a single round or a full flow of 108,
Let it be a way for you to honor the sun,
The seasons,
And the beautiful connection we all share with nature.
If you're curious and ready,
Or ready to explore,
I'd be absolutely delighted to guide you into this journey or share more insights.

Remember,
The light we honor in the sun also resides within every one of us.
So,
Let's move forward with gratitude and intention,
Carrying that beautiful light into our everyday lives.
With this,
I greet you.
Have a beautiful day.
Namaste.
