It's time to find your evening stillness,
And allow the day to be over.
So take a slow breath in and sigh it out.
Let yourself settle here.
Acknowledge your body and the space it inhabits.
Let your shoulders drop,
Let your face relax.
You don't need to replay today,
And you don't need to solve it,
For now you are allowed to set it down.
Imagine the events of the day as objects you've been carrying,
Tasks,
Conversations,
Thoughts,
Expectations.
One by one,
You're placing them gently on the ground.
Begin with the body,
And notice where the day is still being held.
Maybe the jaw,
Or the shoulders,
Or the tummy.
With each exhale,
Imagine tension loosening its grip.
And if thoughts arise,
Lists,
Or regrets,
Or the what-ifs,
Just acknowledge them kindly,
And then picture them floating away,
Like leaves in water.
You can say silently,
Thank you for reminding me,
But not now,
Today is finished,
And tomorrow can wait.
Allow your nervous system to realize,
The doing is finished,
The striving is finished,
You are safe to rest.
Feel gravity supporting you,
Nothing to hold up,
Nothing to keep together.
Let the mind soften,
And let the breath slow naturally.
If any lingering emotions remain,
Frustration,
Worry,
Sadness,
You don't need to push them away.
You can simply imagine opening your hands,
And letting them pass through.
Stay here for several quiet breaths,
Just emptying,
And settling.
The day is complete,
You are allowed to rest.
