I'm Jocelyn.
This is the second in a series of body scans meant to be quick check-ins with your body to develop trust with your body,
To start the conversation with your body,
Just to check in and find some presence.
This body scan is for the musculature system.
So simply bringing your awareness inward,
Wherever you are,
Whether you're sitting in your car,
At your desk,
In your bedroom,
On your floor,
Laying down.
Just bring your awareness inward and just focus your awareness on your breath,
Not trying to change it,
Just allowing your breath to be witnessed through the lens of your awareness.
Noticing the inhale and the exhale.
Noticing the depth of breath and not bringing any judgment to it.
The body scans are not to bring judgment or shame or blame to you,
They're just a way to begin to bring presence,
Awareness,
Discernment,
And acceptance to your moment in the present.
As I begin to bring your awareness across the muscles of the body,
Simply allow yourself to be open to any sensations,
Physical sensations or emotional sensations,
Energetic sensations that come up.
It will be going through pretty quickly.
And we'll begin with bringing your awareness to the muscle of the mind.
Noticing any sensations as your awareness settles gently on the muscle of the mind.
Allowing your awareness to move to all of the little muscles behind the eyes.
What sensations are present here with all the muscles behind the eyes?
The muscles of the cheeks,
The lips,
And the tongue.
Just bring your awareness across the muscle of the tongue,
The front of the tongue,
The back of the tongue,
And the root of the tongue.
What sensations are present?
Allowing your awareness to travel down all the sides of the neck,
In the front of the neck,
The sides of the neck,
And the back of the neck.
Allowing your awareness to travel down the upper back,
Across the shoulder blades,
All the way to the front where the chest and pectoral muscles are.
What sensations are present here?
Allowing your awareness to roll down both arms,
All of the muscles that wrap themselves around the bones of the arms,
From the upper arm to the lower arm,
Down into the hands and the fingers,
All the muscles that move the bones in these beautiful ways to be able to reach and touch and feel.
What sensations are present in these muscles?
Bringing your awareness back to the chest and down both sides of the torso,
Around the belly,
And all of the muscles that encase our organs.
All of the muscles of the belly and the lower back.
Bringing your awareness to these areas and noticing the sensations that are present.
Allowing your awareness to move downward toward the glutes,
The hips,
And all of these muscles that stretch and flex,
That allow us to move freely in the world.
What sensations are here at the hips,
Down the legs,
The thighs and the calf muscles,
The ankles and the feet,
All the way down to the toes,
All of the muscles allowing us to walk freely,
To be balanced.
What sensations are present down the legs,
Down to the tiniest little muscles in the feet?
And for a minute just allow your awareness to be across all the muscles in the body.
Maybe your awareness is called in one direction or another,
But allowing peripheral view of all of the musculature in your body.
What sensations are here for you?
And simply take a nice deep breath in through the nose.
Open your mouth and sighing it out.
And hold just a little bit of gratitude for yourself,
For being present with all the muscles across your body,
For taking time to build trust at this beautiful home of your soul,
