Welcome to this short eyes open meditation.

Sit somewhere comfortably in your normal meditation posture.

Upright back,

Upright neck,

Shoulders are relaxed and down.

Hands are placed on top of the knees or the legs.

Keep your eyes open and let your gaze be soft.

Not fixed on anything in particular.

Not searching for anything.

Just resting the gaze.

Notice the light.

Notice the colors.

The shadows.

Small movements.

Perhaps in trees or in the curtains or in light.

But don't go searching for visuals.

Don't go searching for things to see.

Allow them to come to you.

Don't worry about giving a name to the things you see.

Imagine that what you're looking at doesn't even have a name.

What if the things that you can see don't even have words to describe them?

Now let's notice something subtle but powerful.

You are seeing.

You are the seer.

But you are also aware that you are seeing.

You can see things.

And you're also aware that you are the seer.

Divide your attention now to sounds.

Notice how sounds come and they go.

For example,

My voice.

Or the music in the background.

Or maybe you have noisy neighbors.

Or maybe you can hear cars outside.

It doesn't matter.

Maybe there aren't any sounds and you can almost hear silence.

And notice that the things which we can hear are heard by a hearer.

In the same way that the things that we see are seen by a seer.

Objects and awareness.

Intimately connected.

Inseparable from one another.

Wherever there's an object,

There is awareness.

Closely massaging the object with awareness.

Rest here,

Noticing what you see and what you hear.

And noticing the subtle but profound awareness.

Which is registering all of it.

And when you're ready,

You can continue with your day.

Hopefully carrying on with this state of beautiful presence.
