Welcome to Quick Calm Now,
A grounding yoga nidra for stress and overwhelm.
My name is Sarah.
If you find this practice supportive,
You're warmly invited to follow me here on InsideTimer.
I share meditations designed to help you soften.
Step away from constant responsibility and reconnect with a sense of ease.
This practice is an invitation to pause,
Especially if your mind feels busy,
Your body feels tense,
Or everything around you seems to be asking for your attention all at once.
Perhaps you've been moving from one thing to the next,
Solving problems,
Answering questions,
Caring for others,
Making decisions,
Or carrying worries that have followed you throughout the day.
You don't need to arrive here already feeling calm.
If your mind is still racing,
If your body feels restless,
Or if calm doesn't come right away,
That's okay.
You don't need to force yourself into a different state.
Taking this moment for yourself is enough.
Sometimes we think we need to make everything feel better before we can truly rest.
But you don't have to make the stress disappear or solve everything that's been weighing on you.
For these next few moments,
You can simply pause.
The things that need your attention will still be there later.
The decisions can wait.
The questions can wait.
The responsibilities can wait.
You can set them down for a little while without needing to forget them.
Fix them,
Or figure them out.
Today's practice is not about becoming perfectly calm.
It is an opportunity to settle.
To reconnect with your body.
And to give yourself somewhere to rest while whatever you're carrying can simply be here.
Throughout this practice,
I'll gently guide you through body awareness,
Breath,
And a peaceful journey beside a flowing river.
There is no way to do this practice wrong.
You do not need to clear your mind or create a particular experience.
Simply become comfortable and allow yourself to be guided.
Let's begin with a slow breath in.
And out.
Allow yourself to settle into a comfortable position now.
You may lie down.
Recline.
Remain seated if that feels supportive for you today.
Make any adjustments you need to feel comfortable.
There is nowhere you need to be for these next few moments.
Nothing you need to answer.
Nothing you need to finish.
Nothing requiring your immediate attention.
Take a slow breath in.
And a long,
Easy breath out.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Your jaw to release.
Your hands to relax.
Let the surface beneath you hold a little more of your weight.
Five,
Begin to soften the whole body.
Four,
Let go with the breath.
Breathe.
Allow the mind to slow.
Too.
Unwinding.
Releasing one.
Resting here.
Exactly as you are.
If at any point during the practice you would like an extra sense of comfort,
Imagine a place that feels safe,
Supportive,
And peaceful.
Perhaps somewhere in nature.
Perhaps somewhere familiar.
Or simply a feeling of warmth and quiet.
There is no need to create it in detail.
Simply sensing its atmosphere is enough.
Allow that place to remain available to you throughout the practice.
Here whenever you need it.
And before we continue,
Gently bring to mind a quiet intention for your practice today.
Perhaps I am safe to pause.
Or,
I can set this down for now.
Or another simple phrase that feels supportive for you today.
Repeat your intention silently to yourself.
And again.
Allowing the words to settle gently into awareness.
Now allow your awareness to move slowly through your body.
Simply noticing each area as it is named.
No effort required.
Nothing to change.
Nothing to fix.
Simply noticing.
As you notice each part of your body,
Become aware of the connection between your body and the surface beneath you.
Feel where your body is being supported.
Notice the gentle pull of gravity.
Allowing yourself to be here.
Without needing to hold yourself up.
Become aware of the face.
Ciao.
Tongue.
Cheeks.
Nose ears.
Bye.
Forehead.
The whole head.
Heavy.
Relax.
Rest day.
Notice the neck.
Shoulders.
Arm.
Hands.
Home.
Finger.
Become aware of the chest.
Belly.
Shoulder blades.
Between the shoulder blades.
The entire back.
Notice your hips Like.
.
.
Toes.
And now feel the whole body together.
The whole body resting.
The whole body is supported.
Feel the weight of your body being received by the surface beneath you.
Nothing you need to hold up.
Nothing you need to brace against.
Feel the gentle pull of gravity.
Allowing your body to become heavy.
Settle.
Grounded.
You are here.
Supported by the Earth beneath you.
You are not required to carry everything with your body right now.
And for these few moments,
You don't need to go anywhere.
You can simply be here.
Become aware now of your natural breath.
Nothing to change.
Nothing to deepen.
Nothing to control.
Simply allowing the body to breathe itself.
You Feel the inhale arriving.
Feel the exhale leaving.
Inhale.
Exhale.
And perhaps with each exhale,
Imagine releasing just a little of what you don't need to carry in this moment.
Not solving it.
Not pushing it away.
Simply setting it down temporarily.
As you inhale,
Silently hear,
Settle.
As you exhale,
Silently hear release.
Inhale.
Subtle.
Exhale.
Reliefs.
And continue in your own rhythm now.
And now,
Gently become aware of the feeling of being overwhelmed.
Perhaps many thoughts competing for attention.
Many things needing to be remembered.
Many questions without immediate answers.
Notice how this experience feels in your body without judgment.
There is no need to change it.
Simply noticing.
And now,
Become aware of the opposite experience.
Feeling grounded.
Study.
Support it.
Nothing needing your attention all at once.
Perhaps noticing the weight of your body.
The surface beneath you.
The steadiness of the earth.
The simple experience of being here.
Now gently move between the two.
Overwhelmed.
And ground.
Scattered.
And steady.
Caring.
And support it.
You and now notice both together.
The thoughts may still be present.
The responsibilities may still exist.
And yet,
There is also this place of steadiness.
Nothing needs to disappear.
You're simply creating a little more space around what is here.
You Rest here for a few quiet moments.
Grounded.
Support it.
And now you are going on a journey.
You may begin to see yourself from above or from behind.
Walking slowly through a peaceful woodland forest.
Tall trees rise quietly around you.
Sunlight filters through the leaves.
The air is cool and fresh.
You hear birds singing somewhere in the distance.
And beneath all of these sounds,
You begin to notice another.
The gentle sound of flowing water.
You You follow the sound.
Walking slowly along a quiet path.
Let the earth feel steady beneath your feet.
Leave shift softly beneath each step.
The trees gradually begin to open.
And ahead of you,
You discover a peaceful river moving gently through the landscape.
The water flows around smooth stones.
Curving naturally around the bends in the earth.
Sometimes moving quickly.
Sometimes slowing into quiet pools always continuing its journey.
You walk towards the river and find a comfortable place to sit beside the water.
Perhaps on a smooth rock.
Were on the soft earth beneath the trees.
You settle here.
Feeling the ground beneath you.
Perhaps a solid tree behind you.
The steady earth supporting your body.
And the river moving quietly in front of you.
You may notice small leaves floating upon the surface.
Carried gently downstream.
They do not need to know where they are going.
They simply move with the water.
And perhaps now you begin to imagine placing some of your own worries beside you.
Perhaps a responsibility that has been weighing on you.
A decision you've been trying to figure out.
A conversation you keep replaying.
Something you are worried about.
Or simply the feeling that there is too much to keep track of.
You don't need to solve any of it.
You don't even need to understand it.
For now.
Imagine writing each worry down on a small piece of paper.
One at a time.
And placing the papers beside you.
You can come back to them later.
They aren't disappearing.
They aren't being denied.
They are simply being set down for a little while.
And as you place each one beside you.
Feel your hands becoming lighter.
Your shoulders becoming softer.
Your breath becoming easier.
The river continues moving.
You watch a small leaf touch the surface of the water.
And slowly began to drift downstream.
It doesn't push against the current.
It doesn't need to find the perfect direction.
Water carries it.
And perhaps you can simply notice what it feels like to rest here for a little while.
Without needing to know what comes next.
Supported by the Earth.
Supported by your breath.
While the river continues moving beside you.
The things you need to figure out will still be there later.
The responsibilities will still be there later.
The questions will still be there later.
But they don't need you right now.
For these few moments,
You can simply return to rest.
Allowing your body to settle.
Allowing your awareness to become grounded.
Allowing a little calm to find you here.
You can leave what you've set down right here for a little while.
You can watch the water moving around the stone.
Hear the gentle sound of its rhythm.
Feel the cool air against your skin.
Notice the warmth of the sunlight filtering through the trees.
Nothing to solve.
Nothing to manage.
Nothing to hold.
Just the river.
The Earth.
The breath.
Panteo and perhaps notice.
The river has been moving all along.
It didn't need your help.
It didn't need you to push it forward.
It simply followed the landscape before it.
Moving around what it encountered.
Continuing when the path opens.
Resting when the water became still.
And perhaps there is something comforting and remembering.
You don't have to force every part of your own journey either.
For now,
You can simply be here.
Grounded.
Supported.
And allow to pause.
With permission to experience a little calm exactly as it comes.
And now gently return to your quiet intention.
I am safe to pause.
Repeat it silently once.
And again.
Allowing it to settle naturally.
Slowly begin to return now.
The river remains behind you.
Still flowing.
Still moving.
The worries you set down are still there.
Waiting quietly.
There is no need to pick them back up just yet.
Begin to notice the room around you.
The surface beneath your body.
The air against your skin.
The sounds around you.
Five,
Feel grounded,
Steady.
Support it.
4.
Become aware of yourself as the witness.
Observing body.
And experience.
3.
Notice thoughts,
Sensations,
And sounds returning to awareness.
Two,
Notice your breath.
Allowing it to deepen slightly.
One.
Sense your whole body resting here.
Gradually becoming more awake and aware.
Begin to invite small movements back into the body.
Wiggling your fingers.
Keep moving your toes.
Perhaps rolling in your shoulders or taking a gentle stretch as you return to the space where you began.
Take a fuller breath in.
And down.
Notice how you feel.
You may still have things to figure out.
You may still have responsibilities waiting for you.
But perhaps you don't have to carry all of them at once.
Sometimes calm doesn't come from solving everything.
Sometimes it comes from giving ourselves permission to set things down long enough to remember that we are still here.
Still breathing.
Still supported.
And capable of taking the next step when the time comes.
You as you continue into your day.
Consider this a continued invitation to return to your foundation.
Again and again.
To the steady support beneath you.
To the simple feeling of being here.
Grounded.
Supported.
And hell.
Remembering that even when life feels unsettled,
You can still find a place of support in this moment.
Bring your hands to heart center.
When it feels right,
Allow the eyes to open to a soft gaze.
Bow to yourself in appreciation for practicing today.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
